Guest guest
I have severe RA with many deformities and on medical leave from my job. I have been on many drugs for RA (rheumatoid arthritis) yet the meds always stop working after about a year or so. The only thing left for me is rituxan. It has been a good drug for some but it isn't without its risks. Risks I am not sure I want to take. So I am sitting on the fence with this last resort. Another RA board member suggested LDN to me. I have been researching it about a month now and stumbled upon this site recently within the last week. I am not sure if I want to take this route either because it is still a drug and I have not finished my research on long-term side effects, etc. I have put so many chemicals in my body with the RA meds until I feel all of these drugs just keep causing more and more problems. The steroid use has caused me to need hips replaced plus I have developed other conditions like sjogren's, problems with lungs, problems with heart because of a pulmonary blood clot or it could be from RA. So kind of leery to add a new chemical. My body is very damaged from RA and its med until I am not sure if I should do anything at all or more like what difference would it make now. Is LDN addictive? Can you stop at any time without withdrawals? How safe is it? Hoping to learn more about LDN since to make an educated decision, and I have heard good things about it. I have an appt coming up in a couple of weeks so will mention it also to the rheumatologist. Thanks. Take care. Ebony
Guest guest
Hi Ebony, I also have rheumatoid arthritis and have been on LDN since May 2007. At first, I couldn't sleep and then months later I felt more joint pain but not sure if it was from LDN so I stopped taking it in November 2007. I got more joint pain and I went back on it in early February 2008. I have much less knee pain. I know it is helping me. I am also on minocycline (antibiotic used as a disease modifying drug for RA). Check out www.roadback.org for info on minocycline. I feel much much better since I am on both. I will not stop them again and will see if I can finally walk without my crutches. I have a lot of damage to my right knee but barely no pain now in this knee. Prednisone also damaged my hips causing me to need hip replacements. Create a Home Theater Like the Pros.
