I have an 18 year old grandaughter with ADHD and have looked for any

postings about trying LDN for treating it. Unfortunately my computer

skills are very limited and I can't find any information or leads.

About four or five months ago she began taking Concerta (sp?) which

gives her short term symptom relief but I don't know how long it can be

taken. I haven't heard of ADHD being auto-immune related but there is a

broad history of auto-immune type diseases in my family. We have

Crohn's, MS, Ulerative Colitis, Lupus and maybe others. One

grandaughter has started LDN (for Crohn's) and other family members

(daughters, grandaughter, niece, grandniece)are struggling with " giving

up " standard medicine to try LDN. With this history I'm wondering if

the ADHD has an auto-immune connection and if LDN might help her. Any

information will be greatly appreciated.

You might want to read this:

then consider joining Dr. McCandless' Autism LDN group where they

specialize in problems that concern you:

Hi Wayne,There are over 80 diseases thought to have an autoimmune component, and LDN has been of help treating a number of them (e.g., Crohn's, MS, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis). Considering LDN's low cost and minimal side effects, I believe it is definitely worth a try in cases of ADHD, especially so becasue it has helped in cases of autism. For more information about LDN, visithttp://tinyurl.com/2boot2Sincerely,Dudley Delany

I contacted Dr. Mc Candless in hope LDN would be

effective against ADHD. Her answer was negative but

ask directly yourself. Never accept another's negative

answer on something so important! I would love to be

wrong. Give it your best. Shirley

==========

Wayne,

Look into her diet. Professor Celene Bernstein(Nutritional consultant

35 years now) was a school teacher and she taught the kids who had

learning disabilities and dealt with many ADHD kids. She had the

parents clean up the children's diets and many started to

significantly improve. Look into an alkaline diet. Her diet should

be gluten free, sugar free(use stevia, xylitol or erythritol, NO

Splenda, NO Aspartame--Nutra-Sweet), dairy free(substitute for dairy,

Almond Milk) if she cannot give up dairy use Goat Milk and goat

products as they digest more easily.

Get yeast yeast load tested to see if she has candida yeast. Find a

doc who can do a live blood analysis preferably with a Bradford

Variable Projection Microscope. Many chiropractor use this type

microscope. This device can see viruses, bacteria, lyme disease,

yeasts, metals, etc.

Continue with the LDN.

Hi Wayne,

I would investigate non drug methods for your granddaughter's ADHD

issues. Dr Ann Block -- a Dallas area doctor -- has written

several books about ADHD. http://www.blockcenter.com/ I've seen her

on a TV health program that I watch. Folks travel from all over the

world to her center.

I don't think I would try LDN while taking any drug that speeds up the

metabolism the way that some of the ADHD drugs can do. I've not taken

any ADD / ADHD drugs, but I've known folks that do and they lose

weight taking them -- so that tells me that their metabolism / heart

rate is effected. I'd be afraid that LDN would enhance that effect.

That's just my 2cents based on my experience with thyroid meds and LDN.

I think I would try a change in diet / lifestyle first --- then

investigate whether to add LDN therapy after those changes are

evaluated.

You are wise to be watchful for an autoimmune connection because of

your family's autoimmune disease history. I understand that Celiac

Disease can have neurological implications...so there are lots of

things to consider / research / evaluate.

Best wishes...

Jann
