Guest guest
Hello Jann: I have been on LDN for approx 6 months now. When I first started the LDN I too noticed an increase in my palpitations, that has since lessened. I still get them periodically but do not believe they are related to the the LDN more likely, stress. I too have MVP I have never been told that I could possible cure the MVP with Magnesium therapy, maybe you could share with me how you did that using Magnesium. --- jannz2 <jbreslin@...> wrote: > Does anyone with MVP (mitral valve prolapse) > experience palpitations > shortly after taking their LDN dose ?? > > I have MVP and through magnesium therapy was able to > " repair " the > leaky valve. Guest guest
Probably a healing crisis. Sould go away in 2-6 months. ________________________________ From: low dose naltrexone on behalf of jannz2 Sent: Sat 4/5/2008 10:28 AM low dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] LDN causing palps ?? MVP -- Mitral Valve Prolapse Does anyone with MVP (mitral valve prolapse) experience palpitations shortly after taking their LDN dose ?? I have MVP and through magnesium therapy was able to " repair " the leaky valve. (I went from a +2 ---> to " 0 " by taking extra magnesium for about 1yr). I don't even think about having MVP anymore, but I think technically I still have MVP. I also have Hashi's version of thyroid disease and recently started taking LDN (again).... starting out this time around with 1.5mg night time dose -- for 2wks...then moved up to a 3mg night time dose for 4wks. I experience heart palpitations a couple / few hours after taking the LDN...which have been waking me up at around 2am EVERY NIGHT. I can feel my heart beating extra fast and it wakes me up. Generally, I've been able to get back to sleep in a couple / few hours...but I was becoming sleep deprived and felt dangerous to drive. I decided to switch to daytime dosing to see if this would make a difference. I've been trying to figure out if these palps are a thyroid response...?? a female hormone response...??? an adrenal response...??? an LDN response ..??? It just occurred to me that it could be an MVP response. Just wondering if anyone else has MVP and what their experience has been. ??? Many thanks... Guest guest
Hi Jann, I sent you what I have saved, but I noticed that one of the posts was an earlier one you have sent. How long has this been happening for you? Does it come and go, or it is consistent? Have your other meds stayed the same and what is the filler type in your LDN caps? Guest guest
Hi Jann, I have mild MVP, but severe enough to premedicate with antibiotics prior to any dental work done. I've never notice any paplpatations associated with the LDN. I only get them if I have caffeine or under LOTS of stress. I have had a great increase in my energy level, though. If I let myself go too much, THEN I may have a few palpatations. That's when I tell myself to slow it down a bit. Hope this helps :)JanetRRMS 1994LDN May '07 (Almost a whole first year already !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! )jannz2 <jbreslin@...> wrote: Does anyone with MVP (mitral valve prolapse) experience palpitations shortly after taking their LDN dose ?? Guest guest
Jan, I have noticed just recently an increase in palpatations myself. I have Graves disease and now am hypo due to RAI. I wonder....if you are now on too much thyroid replacement hormone. LDN can increase the output of thyroid hormones. Maybe have your levels tested. I am awaiting lab results from the end of April. I have a feeling I will need to decrease my Synthroid. I feel better than I have in the last year since RAI. BUt, I may be going hyper. Guest guest
Hi Aletha,RE: How long has this been happening for you? Does it come and go, or it is consistent?I've had this reaction pretty much EVERY time I've taken a dose -- at night at least. No matter what the dose amount. 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 I thought it was the expected response, but I'm beginning to see that not many other folk experience this. I thought it was the endorphin production cycle kicking off or something...??? I've been on my "restart" of LDN for 6wks now. My husband has been on LDN now for almost 3mos -- he's never experienced anything like palpitations... nor any sleep issues either. But he doesn't have any autoimmune issues or MVP ...so...???These palpitations don't last too long -- 30-45min -- but when you're asleep and it happens.. it will wake you up. And it takes awhile to settle back down. A few times I could go back to sleep but more often I would just have to be awake for a couple / few hours...and then go back to bed. I've NOT had great sleep in a number of years...probably perimenopause issues... but this stuff pushed it waaay over the top. That's why I'm trying the day-time dosing instead. I haven't had too many daytime doses yet to know if it's still the same reaction. I had some testing done, so I stopped the LDN for a few days. RE: Have your other meds stayed the same and what is the filler type in your LDN caps?I don't take any other meds right now. I quit taking my thyroid meds in mid January. I will be adding them back though because my levels are too low. The filler in my LDN is Avicel. Jann
Guest guest
Hi Saundra, RE: I wonder....if you are now on too much thyroid replacement hormone. LDN can increase the output of thyroid hormones. Maybe have your levels tested. I'm not taking any thyroid meds (THR) right now --- and I just had my thyroid levels tested a few days ago. I'm pretty low --> hypo. Before I began my "restart" of LDN I benchmarked my thyroid levels -- I was low / hypo. And after 6wks of LDN therapy -- 2wks @1.5mg , 4wks @ 3mg -- my thyroid levels stayed the same --> still hypo. I was hoping the LDN would have made my thyroid produce a little more hormone than it did...6wks is probably not long enough...??...although with my first try at LDN I went hyper within 19 days...but I was taking THR then... so...??? I'll need to start taking my thyroid meds again. Jann
Guest guest
Jann; I've got palpitations first time I took LDN (3mg), I get down 1.5 for a week and back to 3.0 - never happened again...? But I have only multiple sclerosis, nothing else. > I've had this reaction pretty much EVERY time I've taken a dose -- at > night at least. Guest guest
Hi Jann I don't have MVP but I did have a serious condition years ago that caused by auto-antibodies syndrome, I ended up with a thrombosis in my hand, then a few years later I went on to develop Graves Disease and thyroid eye disease. I am taking 1.5 mg of LDN and have been for just over 7 weeks, I have had a few palpitations around the time you state and still have sleep issues which started when I was dx Graves. Because you have already been DX with MVP I would set up an appointment with a cardiologist just to make sure that it is nothing too serious, when it comes to the heart you really can't guess at it. Also being HYPO can also cause heart issues as much as being Hyper. So maybe going back on your replacement to get those levels up would be a good idea. I got palpitations with hyper and hypothyroidism. Guest guest
Both hypo and hyper can cause palpitations. I have them now while hypo, and had them when hyper. Good luck and keep me posted on your progress. Is this the same Jann from the graves disease group?
