I don't know if it is included in normal blood testing. I do know that it can be done, as they are testing endorphin levels in the Italian trial.

Hello all,I'm new to this group. I've got Ankylosing Sponylitis and just "discovered" LDN. It sounds very interesting to say the least!I've got a question that I haven't been able to find an answer to:Is it possible to get the beta-endorphine level checked at an ordinary blood test lab. I think it would be very interesing to find out if it really is low, before maybe starting LDN.Anyone?

That really would be a great bench mark for LDN efficacy, wouldn't it.

I can't find any commercial labs in the US offering beta-endorphin testing on

their menus.

Did find something about requiring a spinal tap to test them (shudder). And

newer

research that suggests endorphins may be seen on PET scans (expensive).

I don't know if this is possible, but I know that people with AS has improved on LDN. And as far as you don't use medication that is contraindicated to LDN, and that is hard to taper, why not trying LDN to find out if you'll get better. LDN in 4.5 mg dose is not doing any harm to your body. It has minimal side effects, and if you get any, they will be easy to deal with. Some vivid dreams at night or some insomnia, it's nothing compared with what other meds offers due to side effects. Insomnia? Buy some melatonin, and you're covered if you get insomnia.

I did not get insomnia, but I woke up around 2-3 each night, for 14 days, and was full of energy, but it didn't take more than 20 minutes, then I slept again, without using any meds to sleep. Ingrid

Hi Jan,

Can you get back onto the LDN site that you signed up on, and then perhaps you can do edit. I think you can ask to change the way you view the posts. Just do it that you look on the site rather than have them download automatically to your e-mail. It can be quite overwhelming at times.

if this is about changing the old Post styles (as a posting list) or the new Post styles (as a mailing list), just hit the choice menu on this page, you'll find the menu on your left or on the top of the page, regarding what style you want. You can change between these two styles whenever you want, and return back to the other type any time.
