Guest guest
Hi, All, I've been reading people's accounts of what vitamins they take, and I can't help but share something (very speculative) that my LLMD told me. (And he's a good guy). He asked me to humor him, and NOT take vitamins. (I can't remember what he said about the supplements, like DHEA, but I'm no longer taking that either). He said he believes that taking vitamins is feeding the enemy. The only way a cell can deal with the Lyme bacteria (which gets in cells) is to starve it out. A cell by itself can't do more. And, for example, the Lyme bacteria don't have a B6 strain. He said he believes we get enough vitamins in bread and milk, etc., and that taking extra vitamins simply feeds the bacteria. (I have not gotten test results back, so I don't know WHICH Lyme bacteria he referred to, but I think he meant Bb). So he asks his patients not to take extra vitamins. I don't think he has scientific " proof " for this yet, but he asks his patients to humor him on it. I don't mean to change anyone's approach if it is working for them - just to let you know what I learned. Thanks Marie

In my personal experience, I started feeling better after I went off everything!! I was on numerous vitamins, minerals and supplements. I went off all antibiotics many years ago and then started on the " natural " stuff. You name it and I was on it ... because someone said it worked for them, because of an advertisement I saw, because of something I read, just because. I finally weaned myself off everything ... and I do feel better. The headaches aren't as bad, the arthritis isn't as bad. It's amazing! Well, I didn't go off " everything " . I take a daily multi-vitamin with calcium. Period. I think that we get our bodies so full of supplements and " natural " stuff that the body just can't do what it's supposed to do. I'm not a scientist by any means and I have no degrees but it just makes sense. And like I said, totally my personal experience, after I quit the abx and then when I quit the supplements, I started feeling better. I'm not suggesting anyone try this, not at all. Just telling you my story!! Ann (TX)

Someone just posted an abstract stating that cancer patients should avoid vit C - seems absurd to me. (Don't mean to pick on you or your doc at all.) I can say that from Bb & Babesia, daughter is severely deficient in ZINC (critical to immune system & very easy to test for - any holistic doc can give you small amount of clear liquid to " swoosh " around in mouth for 30 seconds - if it tastes awful immediately, you have enough - if no taste (as my daughter) - you need supplement - I LOVE these non-invasive tests! VBG!) She feels much, much better taking it. Also, she was so low on B vitamins that corners of her mouth had very slight cracks. 2 days of 2 vit B complex (very high quality from doc) & cracks were gone. She forgot to take them - wa-la cracks reappeared. Her acupuncture meridians were way off - most were " split " meaning that electricity is not flowing through body evenly as it should. Some of her results wer totally off the chart (this is NOT a subjective test - can hear response - " alarm state " & meter jumps & sounds like small siren; low or very sluggish state, needle on monitor hardly moves or just a bit & makes sick sound. AMAZING STUFF!) After 1 acupuncture treatment & the addition of these supplements & prescription protein shake (to reduce inflammation by resetting hormones - I thought this might be BS - she took 3 shakes that day & eyelid swelling was GONE in am), she is feeling much, much better. I believe one must do all one can to support body through crisis situation. JMO Blessings & velcros, Chris
Guest guest
Dear Marie & All, Oops - forgot to mention flax / calcium/magnesium / co-q-10, milk thistle & EPA with GLAs. These have made a HUGE difference in how she feels - this I know for certain. A couple of times she forgot to take them & felt awful by early afternoon. Within about 1 hr of taking these, she felt much, much better - time to go out & ride bike! All of these (except milk thistle for gentle liver support) are critical to nerve / heart / brain oxygenation, capillary strength & actually increasing frontal lobe activity in brain (per research tapes & reading I've done - I'm not a doc - THANK GOD from what I've seen of most of them. LOL!). Calcium / magnesium, when taken before bed, actually works while we sleep to repair damaged nerve endings... Blessings & velcro hugs, Chris
Guest guest
hi, regarding the suggestion to take vitamins and supplements, a word of caution. check carefully before taking, for 2 reasons, they can interact with prescription medicines, i.e. st johns wort, and cause problems. also, some are meant to boost the immune system, we don't need that, since that causes this lovely disease. over the years i would try this or that to make my psoriasis better and end up making everything worse because my immune system went crazy. pharmacists are pretty knowledgeable about medicines but not vitamins and supplements. i would get a book on them to read before trying anything. evening primrose oil was always a good one to take for arthritis. susan in ohio ps, i take enbrel 2x twice a week to fight stubborn psoriasis,no mtx it almost destroyed my liver, working great after 2 months. Guest guest
Aetna, my health ins. provider, sent e-mail referring all insureds to www.vitacost.com for wholesale prices on vitamins and supps. I have used it and it saves 60 to 85% on costs. I bought SAMe for $14.95 when costs $50.00 at Kroger. Aetna does not have any financial interest that I know of. Hope this is not off topic. Unfortunately, my parents think I'm a health freak and can't stand my complaining all the time. Before coming to this website, I went to many different practicioners who couldn't find what was wrong with me. So I think they believe I'm a hypochondriac and they're used to seeing me wasting my time and their money and doing peculiar things. They think I'm half crazy eating that much butter and avoiding stuff everyone eats. My father drinks quite a lot (though I wouldn't call him a alcoholic) and smokes cigares. We don't have the same philosophy about life at all and he definitely thinks I'm crazy with my ideas on diet. I don't know how I could tell them that I really need all these supplements for as long as 20 months. I'm trying to buy them as much as I can. I'm doing the bone broth as well and I'll buy some magnesium if it's really necessary. .
