Must I stop Florinef (Fludrocortisone) before starting LDN?

I take Florinef for Orthostatic Intolerance, a condition brought on my CFS. I've

been reading

that people shouldn't take steroids at the same time as LDN. My information

indicates that

Florinef (Fludrocortisone is the generic version) is not the same as cortisone

or prednisone in

that it is not an anti-inflammatory drug. It is a mineralocorticoid which helps

the body retain

salt to help with Orthostatic Intolerance. Prednisone is a glucocorticoid. Does

anyone know if

I should stop taking Florinef before starting LDN?

Thanks so much.

From what I’ve read, I don’t think there’s any reason to stop Florinef when you start LDN. Both of my sons take Florinef for CFS-related OI. Neither of them has started LDN yet, but I’ve done a lot of research into it for my older son. The list of cautions on the LDN website says nothing at all about problems with Florinef. And you’re right in that Florinef is not in the same class as prednisone or corticosteroids. It does not affect the immune system; it only causes the body to hold onto more salt and fluids, as you stated.

Once you start LDN, I’ll be very interested to hear how it works for you, since I also have CFS. I’m also interested to hear whether you need less Florinef after being on LDN for awhile. As for me, I’ve been on LDN for 3 months now, and it’s made a big difference. I still need my afternoon nap and have to be careful not to overdo, but my stamina is much improved, and I’m able to do much more than before LDN. Severe crashes have become very rare. Let me know how things go for you -
