Guest guest
How long do you need to avoid hyrdocodone before starting LDN? I had to take some this weekend for severe upper abdominal pain and may need to take some in the next week for severe menstrual cramps. I would take OTC NSAIDS but they rip up my stomach. Tylenol doesn't cut it. I can try extra strength tylenol (w/out codene?) to see if I can get by but nearly went to the hospital last time. I have a lot of hormone problems. I have an appointment with someone local on Wednesday. I'm excited! Cami in Seattle, WA
Guest guest
Because LDN blocks opioid receptors throughout the body for three or four hours, people using medicine that is an opioid agonist, i.e. narcotic medication — such as Ultram (tramadol), morphine, Percocet, Duragesic patch or codeine-containing medication — should not take LDN until such medicine is completely out of one's system. Patients who have become dependant on daily use of narcotic-containing pain medication may require 10 days to 2 weeks of slowly weaning off of such drugs entirely (while first substituting full doses of non- narcotic pain medications) before being able to begin LDN safely. http://www.low dose naltrexone.org/index.htm#What_is_low_dose_naltrexone Art -- > > How long do you need to avoid hyrdocodone before starting LDN? Guest guest
Sometimes, very infrequently now, but especially if I'd fall asleep and miss a day or two of LDN I'd become achy and tired again, and having to remain functional, would take an x during the morning and if needed taking the last dosage no later than 6 hr before sleep was intended. Not much experience in this, but it has worked for me without problem, and lately I've been better at taking the LDN and therefore no further need to get creative. This would not likly be beneficial to be done other than in rare occurance. In talking with the doc from a BIG U LDN Fibro study trial he suggested that there may not be an absolute contraindication to narcotic meds and LDN but would not elaborate further. Hang in there, best try to stick to the program red pill ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Bonnie, I do believe all Garnet was doing was trying to help with sharing her knowledge and research about LDN. Goodness, she’s expressed herself about the highs and lows of LDN and her experiences, and I’ve seen her herself get shouted off this board ie ‘who the hell are you? Get off this forum and stop confusing everyone’. So I think you’re underestimating Garnet here and I do believe she herself is trying to understand/help. I personally agree, the expectations for ‘newbies’ on this forum when reading about these miracle stories can sometimes set expectations far too high. I don’t believe in miracles by the way but I do believe that LDN does slow and hopefully halt down progression of illnesses. I also believe raising your endorphins the way LDN can/does will provide you with a sense of well being as I and most I know have experienced. With the tremendous list of things LDN can help with, I’m querying this right now. For example, does LDN help with CFS which I believe you suffer from or is it CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue Immunodeficiency Syndrom)? Is there a difference? I don’t know. Perhaps this needs looking into. First off, I did not say that anyone had posted the magic candy words themselves. That was my way of describing the forest overview I got after reading this board for awhile. Think, for a minute: The majority of posts are in the categories of, " Why isn't this working for me? " or " Why isn't this working better for me? " or " WHy isn't this doing more? " or " Do you think this will help (meaning make better, or cure) such and such also? " The EXPECTATIONS of many posters, from my point of view, are far above the reality of what LDN can be expected to do for the majority of people. Many seem ready to leap in without caution. (How many times have board members told newbies they should have read more about LDN before starting it?) Granted, there are some people on the board who are quick to bring those expectations down to an appropriate level, while still being encouraging, but I stand by my assessment that many folks latch on to LDN expecting the " Miracle Cures " (Magic Candy) they may have read about. In short, I was trying to point out that desperate hope can often make for very risky behaviour. > > > > > > > > I know people have posted about this before but I have a couple of > > questions > > > > I am on 3.0 LDN for hashi's and I also have adrenal fatigue.
