Guest guest
The saddest part of this is so many sick people and their well-meaning friends and family fall for this scam to raise money to fight disease. Wear a pink ribbon and walk in this Cure For Breast Cancer or Ride-A- Bike to cure MS. LOL! If only it were so easy. Look at Muscular Dystrophy and Jerry for example. How many Millions has he raised over the years and how close are they to a cure? They're good at loaning out crutches. But design and build a guided missle and the government and the pointy headed blood-thristy gang is right there on the cutting edge. How's your price of gas lately? Money. Money. Money. Sorry, but I'm angry. Art -- > Art, it is very much the same with Cancer research, only about four per cent of what they get goes to say Lung cancer, breast cancer gets marginally more and the luekemia's, prostrate cancer gets very little, I will not give to cancer charities, not whilst they have fancy offices and lots of staff, what they spend the money is most important, not what they say, what they do!! > Celia >
Guest guest
All, I couldn't resist commenting on salaries of fund raising organizations. Where does anyone get the idea that their salaries should be compared to huge corporations that have income of milllions or billions. I'm a pharmacist and I don't make more than $100,000. What makes anyone think that a president of a local chapter should be making $120,000??? A local chapter??? I applaud those who support fund raising efforts, but let's not be naive about these organizations. We should be supporting organizations that truly make a difference and not talk like they do. Many presidents of organizations are good at fund raising, but that's all they're good for. Chapter presidents can get away with a huge salary because they can ....unless we start supporting only those organizations that use their funds wisely, such as where their putting our/your dollars AND their president's salary. Elliot <<<<< I've been called "Pollyanna" because I always think on the bright side. I have to support the NMSS. Some of the chapters received a four starrating along with the other MS agencies. If you compare their salaries to other business leaders they areunderpaid. It would be difficult to recruit executives if they werenot offered this type of compensation. The president of my localchapter makes less than $120,000 (probably because he has a goodretirement package from another company). The President of Kodak andother large companies make millions. If you look at what they spend for client services it is the majorportion of their expenses.I agree that it is disappointing to see what they are doing for LDNresearch. I would like to pursue this and see the reasoning for it. Ithink most of the research for drugs start in animals. If you look at the longevity of employment at our chapter for thestaff it isn't very long. I think the main reason is that they aren'twell paid.I plan to participate in the MS Walk. You can throw the rottentomatoes if you'd like. The CRAB drugs are better than nothing. I've been on Copaxone for 4yrs. Hopefully, they will have some better options soon. Meantime, Ihope the LDN will work for me.>>>>
