Guest guest
Hi, I experienced the same horrible sleeping pattern for about 4 nights of starting LDN. All that kept me going was thinking "this will get better" over and over. I had to think of "the end result" of this protocol. I had such vivid dreams and like you, it seemed like I was in a twilight zone. A friend who is on LDN for FMS, like me, told me this is how it would be at first. I have been on it for 14 days now, and am sleeping very good. I also take Lunesta sleep aid. During those first 4 nights, Lunesta didn't even help. But, hang in there and go for it. I am feeling wonderful and many of my painful issues are GONE!!!! You must see light at the end of the tunnel. I am on 3mgs and hopefully will be able to move to 4.5 next month. Good luck. Guest guest
I had lots of problems sleeping at first, and this lasted for more than just a few days – more like 6-8 weeks for me. I tried 5htp, Melatonin, and I can’t remember what else. In the end, I just stuck it out and the problem did go away. Naps during the day helped me. A pharmacist explained to me that LDN interferes with the deeper level of sleep you need until you get used to it. I started at 3mg, then cut down to 1.5 for a couple of weeks because of the sleep issues, then went back to 3.0. Things gradually got better. The worst was the first couple of weeks at 3.0 when I first began. Once I cut back it improved, and building up slowly was best for me. I know others get over it much quicker. I do agree that the anxiety can be a worse problem for sleep than the LDN. I’ve been on LDN since early December and I’ve been sleeping just fine for quite a while, but it took time. Give it a chance. It’s worth it. Judy New on LDN Posted by: " maddestuff " tj266@... maddestuff Sat May 10, 2008 7:17 am (PDT) Have some questions, I am new to LDN. I took my first pill of LDN last night and I slept horribly. I took a half pill just to try it out so it was only 1.5 mg pill (full pill is 3.0). I heard people complaining about dreams and all but does this affect sleep? I felt like I was asleep all night but barely asleep, kinda like I was almost just lying there is a state between sleep and being awake. I am not certain I can stand another night of this. Lately I have been sleeping great. Let me know if this is a normal reaction. I would hate to see how I sleep with a full 3.0 mg pill. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you,
Guest guest
Re: sleep problems first night I didn’t experience sleep problems myself, but from what I’ve read, they’re very common at first. The experts recommend just what you did: start at a lower dose and work up. From what I’ve read and heard here on the list, most sleep difficulties resolve themselves after just a week or so, so hang in there. Guest guest
In some respects I've never seen an improvement from LDN (and I didn't expect to). I did notice that my thinking was clearer but that could have been because I stopped taking Rebif. I think it is important to realize that LDN is not supposed to improve any disease symptoms. If you find that, congratulations but just like the "CRAB" drugs, hopefully it will keep you from getting worse.
Guest guest
Hi Larry, You’re quite right but I don’t know where you got the idea that LDN could do this and that. All it does is help slow down the progression of the diseases. From research I’ve done, Rebif, Tsysabri (whom have had a warning from FDA) enhance the disease. Your choice.
