Guest guest
, I use Oxy Powder with great success for my two boys when they are stopped up. I ordered it through amazon.com. Dana From: Brattin <sdb2956@...> Subject: Can we use Benefiber ? Other suggestions? (Warning: poop talk) Date: Sunday, November 23, 2008, 3:57 PM Hi, We're trying to get our daughter " regular " and one suggestion her I asked her doctor about was Benefiber. When I looked at the label, however, it is wheat-based but claims to be gluten free, at least to the European standard? I'm wondering if it's wise for us, as our daughter is both on the GFCF diet (opioids) and was IgG sensitive to wheat when we tested her before taking gluten out of her diet? If we can't use it, what might we use? I'm not about to go back to Miralax, but she's having trouble with no bms and then blowouts: lots of little ones that come out with noise and force. Thanks for your help.
Guest guest
they used to be WF and now they say they are gluten free... so i think the 'wheat' is still there ?? but not the gluten. I remember calling around and asking awhile back and deciding against it. we just started miralax actully.. after 8 years of trying EVERYTHING... i decided if i could get him moving, then maybe it would help on getting all the good stuff in and gradually back off. I have found that most enzymes (except nofenol) actually do constipate / firm stools- which many on the spectrum appreciate but we are on the opposite end so have had to resort to miralax while starting enzymes. Dr. Houston actually called me and explained the whys and wherefores of this- which i have written down somewhere. Guest guest
Can you use prebiotics? Most are composed of fiber and lay a good groundwork for your probiotics. We use Biotagen (Klaire/ProThera.) We worked up to 4 caps per day all in the a.m. but are now settled at 2 for one kid, 3 for the other. They really help. Good luck. > > Hi, > > We're trying to get our daughter " regular " and one suggestion her I asked her doctor about was Benefiber. Guest guest
We use " Oranic Clear Fiber " that I get at our local HFS. I use 3/8-1/2 t per day and he usually goes poop within an hour or so. He tended to hold it in so his ped said to add fiber. He said to find a natural one my son would tolerate. this mixes so easily into juice and states on the bottle it is free of wheat, gluten and corn (among other things). the website on the bottle is www.renewlife.com Organic Clear Fiberâ„¢ $12.99 - $19.99 100% organic acacia fiber 5 grams fiber per serving Flavor-free, grit-free Will not thicken or gel Psyllium-free, gluten-free Sugar-free, diabetic-friendly Organic Clear Fiberâ„¢ is a clear-mixing natural fiber supplement made with only 100% acacia fiber. Acacia is a natural soluble fiber that dissolves completely in liquids and soft foods without changing their taste or texture. Unlike psyllium-based fiber products that can dehydrate the bowel and cause abdominal discomfort, Organic Clear Fiber is psyllium-free. > > > > > Hi, > > Â > > We're trying to get our daughter > " regular " and one suggestion her I > asked her doctor about was Benefiber. Guest guest
We do use Benefiber daily (my son is tube fed), but what really works for us is mag cit. He is about 60 lbs and this last time (7 days no bm coinciding w/10 days of antibiotic d/t cellulitis) I gave almost 1/2 dose (full dose was full bottle) over 3 days. He " moved " over 2 lbs out when it came. And, he looked like he felt a lot better. Guest guest
Dana, My son was placed on Miralax several months ago by a pediatric gastroenterologist. He has severe stomach issues. In the past couple of weeks, his bowels have become incontinent. This was preceeded by staining, like he was passing liquid with gas. Could this be a Miralax issue. We've tried Milk of Magnesia, which makes him gag. Also tried some magnesium but he hates the taste and will only drink a sip. Cannot swallow pills. Any thoughts? Thanks, D. Guest guest
We've used mag oxide in pill form[same as form of magnesium as in mik if mag]. You could try to crush it and put it in whatever he will take. It is a form that works well here for consipation. > > If we can't use it, what might we use?
