Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am somewhat new here...haven't posted much but have read a lot. I would like to take this opportunity to let you know how LDN has affected me up to this point; after 1 week. Let me start by saying I have Graves Disease..an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid and makes it overactive. I had radioactive iodine(RAI) to kill the thyroid ten months ago. I do however, have quite a bit of thyroid tissue left, and a partially working thyroid. At this point, I am hypo, with an underactive thyroid due to the RAI. The day after my first dose was a little scary. My heart rate jumped to 120 BPM, and my BP was somewhat elevated. I just took it easy that day, and was fine the next.I have had sleep disturbance, but I haven't slept through the night in 25+ years. I have also noticed when I am asleep, it is a much more sound productive sleep. This morning, I woke with a feeling of peace and excitement for the day. I can tell you, I haven't felt this since I was a child. Looking back, I feel I have had some pretty severe depression that I wasn't even aware of. I mean, to an extent, I knew it was there, but never did I know how bad. I had forgotten that feeling of peace; hasn't been there in so very many years. It was like connecting with a part of myself I had not even realized I had lost!! So much so, that for a few minutes, I actually mourned the loss I had been living with for so many years. I don't know if there are any trials currently underway in regards to LDN and depression, but there should be. Also, I do not know if this is a benefit for everyone,,but considering the lack of side effects with LDN, it most certainly is worth a try. My husband has been so encouraged by my progress, he began taking LDN last night. Although he has no diagnosis of anything LDN might benefit, he is using it as a preventative measure, and hoping maybe he finds the same peace that I have found. We obtain our LDN from River pharmacy w/o a rx, as we are without insurance, and the doctors that we can afford are unaware of LDN, and unwilling to learn. We monitor our own Pulse, BP, symptoms, and subsequent improvements. So, anyone that is on the fence about trying LDN, should just make the leap. It is well worth it. I am looking forward to the days, weeks, and months ahead, and the continued improvements for both myself and my husband. Thank you to all the pioneers, the doctors, and all who contribute to this board. You have made a difference in my life, and my family's life that can not be expressed through a simple " thank you.
