Guest guest
There are so many different digestive enzyme products and it may be that your son needs to start out with something very mild. It seems like maybe the enzymes were helping, because the red cheeks decreased. For my son, he was very sensitive to enzymes - he could not handle papain or bromelain - (pineapple and papaya) We found an enzyme called digestive stomach enzyme from Maile Pouls and this he was able to handle. After a while, I also put him on candidase and vira stop enzymes, both on an empty stomach - last thing before bed and I would actually wake him at 5:00 a.m. for the other dose. All three of these enzymes have helped tremendously over time. HTH Viola
Guest guest
Thanks Ladies for the suggestions!! Actually we've been thru 5 different brands and about 8 different types of enzymes. Starting with the 3rd ones and on we tried were fruit-free and still it was a no go. The seemed to really make him irritated. I will say however, the best ones we tried at the end were the Loomis enzymes. I really liked those the best. Also, we didn't start getting the red cheeks until we started all the enzymes. But, I think DS' gut is just too screwed up to be on enzymes at this point. I really didn't think he had any yeast issues until after starting the enzymes. So, I guess its just a matter of what yeast fighting supplements work for him, get that taken care of and then hopefully we can get back to the enzymes. I'm hoping the treatment center I just filled out the paper work for helps us better understand how to fix this child's gut. And as far as trying yeast supplements...has anyone had a problem with Biotin? So, we've had to cross out the following: biotin GSE Kirkman's Probiotic wafers Candase And we started Candax today. Hopefully this works for us. I feel so bad for the lil guy...I'm throwing all these different things at him and he's getting tummy aches and not in a good mood. I'm taking everything he's taking so hopefully I can experience what he has to go thru. And I didn't think I was yeasty...but I think I am...in my throat...is that possible?? > > There are so many different digestive enzyme products and it may be that your son needs to start out with something very mild. Yeast die off can do this, so it might be that the supps you have been trying have actually started addressing the problem. Try giving activated charcoal about 45 minutes after the yeast fighters, see if that helps. > thru. And I didn't think I was yeasty...but I think I am...in my > throat...is that possible?? Thrush is yeast in the throat. I have had that before. Not fun. Dana
