Guest guest
Houston has chewables that might work nice for a toddler. Kind of like a sweat tart? Brainchild Nuticitionals has a natural yeast protocol program, natural, drop you can hide nice in juice. Take a look at that. We've never done the prescriptions. Tammy Biotin, cheap, good for yeast. New to Group - Question about Digestive Enzymes Hello. I have a 2 1/2 year old Autistic son. We are doing everything we can to help him, including countless therapies, ABA, a DAN protocol and have just started the GFCF diet a month ago. Today I saw an article about a new drug being fast tracked by the FDA for the treatment of Autism. It was a digestive enzyme for protein. This was the first time I have heard of this and would prefer not to wait another year or more before I start something like this. Does anyone use digestive enzymes for their toddler, in addition to the GFCF diet? And if so, can you please give me a recommendation on a brand? Could there by any side effects and has your child experienced any? Also, I have been reading a lot about Nystatin or Diflucan. I am skeptical of prescriptions but have read that many children have extreme gains after taking one of these medications. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you so much to all that respond. We are only about 6 months into this but I want to do all that I can for my son on his road to recovery. Thank you again, Stacey
Guest guest
I love Houston's enzymes www.houstonni.com If you call them, they can recommend the right one for you and even send out samples. I put it in applesauce for my daughter and take chewables along if we are going to be out around mealtimes. Also, check out www.enzymestuff.com for a lot of great information too. There's a ton of natural supplements for yeast...biotin, GSE, caprylic acid... > > Hello. I have a 2 1/2 year old Autistic son. Guest guest
My vote goes to houston too, we say huge improvement in behavior and health with diet, with enzymes we say growth (had not seen that in two years) she was in 18 month clothes at 3 she is now 5 in size 5! Also we say clearer thinking and the drunken sailor walk is gone. Obviously we have done other things too but biggest progress I attribute to TriEnza! Even if it isn't a miracle worker, the idea of digesting your food and the nutrients in it is what anyone needs. Just my opinion but I have looked at prescription enzymes for digestion and they are filled with fillers, Houston's are NOT Good for you for being proactive! Enzymestuff.com is a GREAT!!! resource for info on how why and what enzymes do > > Hello. I have a 2 1/2 year old Autistic son. Guest guest
I have to agree with Angie, we use trienza, tried others but saw super great improvement with the Houston brands, We also use their stress relief which is a combo of B's, zinc, and great for MOM......And my son that is high anxiety. Guest guest
We love TriEnza from Houston. I would start with a low dose and increase over time. Guest guest
Here is the link concerning the FDA approval of a new pancreatic enzyme. http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/PostmarketDrugSafetyInformationforPatientsan\ dProviders/ucm204745.htm As for non-prescription enzymes, I agree with the others. Houston enzymes have been great here. We use Trienza (combination of AFP Peptizide (for proteins), Zyme Prime (for carbs and fats) and No Fenol (for phenols)) and additonal No Fenol and they have worked well for us. Definately start slow. Too large a dose can cause gastro problems. You may also want to to try individual enzymes first as opposed to a combo like Trienza. That way if there's a problem, you can identify which one it is. Some also find that they can take them individually with no problems, but cant do the combo. As for Nystatin/Diflucan, its worked well for some. The biggest concern I would have with Diflucan is that it can be hard on the liver. Nystatin doesnt have those issues. In any event, neither would work for us as my sons yeast is resistant to both. Grapefruit Seed Extract and Enzymes like Candex and Candidase have worked here along with lots of probiotics and Biotin. GSE also doesnt cause liver/kidney problems. Karla > > Hello. I have a 2 1/2 year old Autistic son.
