Guest guest
I'm posting for a friend whose nephew has OCD that sounds like either PANDAS or high histamine and am wondering if anyone can recommend a doctor in the southern US who might be a good fit. The family lives in Chattanooga TN and could get to Atlanta or Nashville easily. Thank you! -Sierra

Guest guest
High histamine is common in people on the spectrum and their families and can cause a long list of issues including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, rage and mood swings, obsessive-compulsive disorder, crying episodes, sensory issues (histamine controls the " volume " on sensory processing in the brain), dizziness, car sickness, vertigo, headaches including migraines, asthma, eczema, connective tissue disorders, allergies (duh!), impulsive or compulsive behavior, oppositional behavior, and lots more. You can treat with special diet, certain enzymes, supplements, and it usually comes down to an imbalance of gut flora. Clostridia pumps out histamine when you feed it grains for example. Some good gut flora neutralizes histamine. I wrote a series of blog posts about it and how to treat it: An overview of high histamine: http://roosclues.blogspot.com/2010/03/overview-of-high-histamine-also-called.htm\ l The Low-Histamine Diet: http://roosclues.blogspot.com/2010/03/low-histamine-diet.html Treating High Histamine with Supplements: http://roosclues.blogspot.com/2009/09/histadelia-and-low-histamine-diet.html -Sierra > > > From: purpledragonmama05 <sierra.ansley@...> > Subject: x-post looking for doc in Southeast US > > Date: Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 11:17 PM > > > Â > > > > I'm posting for a friend whose nephew has OCD that sounds like either PANDAS or high histamine and am wondering if anyone can recommend a doctor in the southern US who might be a good fit. Guest guest
Oh my gosh Sierra! Thanks for the explanation! You decribed our almost 4 year old son to the T. He is GFCF, on probiotics, just started D3, Biotin, magnesium again. I will read you blogs. i want to know what we can do to help our little guy. He's become so anxious, stimmy in every way....driving us crazy! I just looked at his labs and it actually says HISTIDINE 142H Range is 54-113. Is that the same thing as histamine? Thank you, Sandy From: purpledragonmama05 <sierra.ansley@...> Subject: Re: x-post looking for doc in Southeast US Date: Wednesday, May 12, 2010, 6:15 PM  High histamine is common in people on the spectrum and their families and can cause a long list of issues including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, rage and mood swings, obsessive-compulsive disorder, crying episodes, sensory issues (histamine controls the " volume " on sensory processing in the brain), dizziness, car sickness, vertigo, headaches including migraines, asthma, eczema, connective tissue disorders, allergies (duh!), impulsive or compulsive behavior, oppositional behavior, and lots more. Guest guest
There's a blood test for histamine levels. I tested us first by going on the low histamine diet, and we were so much better within 10 days it was proof to me, but we did get the test anyway (and we were off of the charts). The low histamine diet controlled symptoms well but didn't " fix " the problem. It can be a good place to start though. To fix the problem you ned to fix methylation and heal the gut. The biggest thing for healing the gut is getting all sugar and starch out (SCD is on the right track) because these things feed the bad bugs that are at the root of the problem. SCD is not enough though because it doesn't emphasize healing foods and doesn't emphasize probiotics enough (and ferments when you heal enough to tolerate them). I am planning to write a blog post about this. My family is now on the downhill side of the mountain in healing this. My older so (more or less NT) is healed from OCD. Please feel free to ask more questions if you want. -SIerra > > > > > > From: purpledragonmama05 <sierra.ansley@> > > Subject: x-post looking for doc in Southeast US > > > > Date: Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 11:17 PM > > > > > >  > > > > > > > > I'm posting for a friend whose nephew has OCD that sounds like either PANDAS or high histamine and am wondering if anyone can recommend a doctor in the southern US who might be a good fit. Guest guest
My son has an autoimmune issue called dermatographism. Just touching his own skin firmly he releases crazy amounts of histamines and gives himself linear hives!! Dr. recommended Allegra. I did some research. My son takes grape seed extract (grape, not grapefruit), pycnogenol and quercetin. He has as much as scratched in about 4 months. It's completely under control!!! Even when he does scratch a bug bite or a regular old itch he doesn't get the linear hives at all. It's been amazing for him! Kerrie In a message dated 5/13/2010 8:52:47 A.M. Guest guest
Thanks. The last thing my son took was Allegra and it made him climb the walls. If we gave it at night, he was awake all night. Later found out that it can cause panic attacks in some NT adults. Guest guest
Hi Sierra, My kid is struggling with Clostridia now and I am feeding him Quinoa. Will it help by adding Allerase 1-2 caps per day between meals to check Histamine storm while I am working on Clostridia. He is on flagyl+Diflucan now, so I hope I'll be able to temporarily knock off Clostridia. thanks, sasmita > > > > > > From: purpledragonmama05 <sierra.ansley@> > > Subject: x-post looking for doc in Southeast US > > > > Date: Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 11:17 PM > > > > > >  > > > > > > > > I'm posting for a friend whose nephew has OCD that sounds like either PANDAS or high histamine and am wondering if anyone can recommend a doctor in the southern US who might be a good fit. Guest guest
Sierra, Do I have to put my son on LOW histamine diet, to get an authentic test result by Histamine lab test? Is it like a challenge test.. Now, which particular test is more reliable, with Quest/Labcorp or any other labs?
