Hi Everyone!

It has been so crazy since we moved into our new house in Vermont in February

that I have not been able to see straight! LOL! :-) Wow, I forgot how hard it

was to move with Ben when he was only 4 months old, but moving with two

preschoolers....yikes!

I wanted to share my recent blog post with you about a new venture I am about to

embark on with a company called A Natural Home. Some of you may already know

Susie Little, but she and I have become good friends over the past four years as

she has made various organic mattresses and special furniture for our family. As

I am getting settled with Ben's new therapist/aide I am finally able to start

creating a separate life for myself, and I have figured out exactly what it

needs to be centered around....helping families with autism through " greening "

the home, as well as helping to get connected with all of the other resources

that families needs. I am still trying to figure out the whole overall scheme of

what I am going to do, but it is going to start by working with Susie's company.

So, you will see in my post below that we are asking for input from families

with autism about what types of things they would like to have, what might be

most important, and possibly create some packages around things, like a green

baby's room kit, or a Green Cleaning starter set (books, starter cleaners,

detailed list of action items/steps by me, etc). Just thinking out loud here,

but if you wanted to create a less-toxic home environment...what would you want

to have access to? Creating an intro kit for recently diagnosed families might

also be helpful with resources, books, checklist, etc?

Contact me if you might be interested in becoming one of our testimonial

families...for your input we will be offering incentives. This is a limited

opportunity, and will be based on a first come first serve basis.

Hope you are all doing great!!!

Subject: [Parents Think Twice] A Journey Towards A Healthy Home....

Over the past 4 years, I have been working closely with a company in Ohio called

A Natural Home www.anaturalhome.com. I found this company when I started

searching for an organic baby mattress for our daughter, and over the years they

have made sustainable, beautiful hardwood furniture for both of the kids' rooms,

two sofas, and various other items like dressers and tables. Having an organic

mattress was one of the most important first steps we made for our son, and for

our own health.

They even worked very closely with us to make a special custom bed for our son

that ended up looking like a twin-sized crib, to keep him safe while giving him

more space to move around at night. The owner Susie and I have become close

friends over the years, and I am going to start working with her on putting

together special packages and discounts for families with children on the

spectrum. I feel strongly about helping kids with sensitivities since I have one

of my own and have been down the difficult path trying to figure it all out. I

really think that this is a great avenue to hopefully make it a bit more

affordable to " go green and healthy " in your home, especially when expenses run

high for the typical family affected by autism.

We are thinking of having various options for families, and are wanting your

opinion about what you might want to see for a baby's room kit (mattress, crib,

changing table, dresser, rocker, etc), kits for designing a healthy non-toxic

home, GFCF packages (books, starter packaged foods, helpful links/websites,

etc), and various other related ideas. I speak with parents of autistic children

on the phone quite often, helping them get started on creating a non-toxic home,

and aiding with various other resources. This is something that I am quite

passionate about, and I am hoping for some feedback from you as we get started

on this new venture!
