Guest guest
For us, unfortunately we've had the eating of inappropriate items, it means severe yeast. Starts out as chewing, fingernails, shirts, etc., then progresses to the actual eating/swallowing of inappropriate things. For us, it is so hard because it seems to come from out of nowhere, until I look back at our activities and realize we went swimming in the public pool several times in a week, or had Jamba Juice twice in one week. Our incidents seem to happen in the summer when I'm less vigilant regarding our activities. Increasing our yeast protocol and detox methods seems to correct the problem literally overnight. Of course, because I'm pushing the antifungals so hard and using so much Epsom salts and baking soda in the tub that we get the weepy sleepy side effect. Again, it usually resolves overnight. Question about obsessive fears, Dana or anyone...please help Hi, My 11 yr. old son (diagnosed ADHD/maybe Aspergers) has a terrible fear of swallowing sharp things, especially thumbtacks. He starts to get very agitated and nervous if he sees them. We have removed them from our home because I want to keep him safe, and I don't think he can completely control himself. Of course they are every where else, especially all around him at school. My sense is that he is mostly afraid of losing control...he can be very impulsive, and it frightens me. In December, he picked up a few pieces of rock salt (designed to melt ice) and he ate them from off the floor at school a few minutes before I picked him up. Once he told me, I called Poison Control and they told me that he would be fine, but it was terrifying. He's 11 years old! He knows it is the wrong thing to do intellectually but he says he can't help it and he doesn't know why he does it. Please, if anyone knows what this may be caused by, or what I can do to help him, please let me know. He is currently taking only the following which we started about 1 month ago, but with low doses at first because we had extreme hyperness (jumping on chairs at school, complete inability to calm down, spitting...he had never spit before the enzymes...says his saliva tastes different.) Anyway, here is what he has every day: (On Feingold Diet Stage 2 for 3 years...was GFCF for 6 months/adding back gluten and casein with enzymes with no negative reactions.) (1) Zyme Prime per meal (3/4) AFP Peptizyde per meal (1) teaspoon of Natural Calm Magnesium in the morning before school Nightly bath with 1 cup of Epsom Salts (3/4 capsule) of Culturelle before bed (going slowly with this as well...just started this 10 days ago) Is there anything else we can try? Dana had advised Biotin which I purchased but I haven't given him yet because of school. I only increase his enzymes or add something new on Friday nights so if there is a reaction, we will have time to deal with it before he is back at school on Mondays. If we add Biotin on Friday, would there be die off that would have eased up by Monday? He has standardized tests all next week. I don't want to overwhelm him. My husband is concerned that I'm already doing too much but I realize that he may need more and will do whatever it takes to help him. Thank you so much for your input and feedback. I am very appreciative of the collective and individual wisdom of this group!
Guest guest
This made me think of OCD, have you had him cultured for strep? I think it's strep A that causes OCD if it gets into the brain, not uncommon for our kids. I'm not dealing with this so I don't remember the treatment protocol, but you can look up more information about P.A.N.D.A.S. which is the syndrome of neurological symptoms from strep. -Sierra > > For us, unfortunately we've had the eating of inappropriate items, it means severe yeast. The strep is asymptomatic, so PANDAS sufferers usually don't have the actual strep throat problems (sore throat, etc.). And, it often won't show up on a throat culture -- only a blood test that looks for the the ASO strep titer and the underlying DNAase effect will let you know if PANDAS is an issue. Treating it can be anything from strong antibiotics to immunoglobulins to antivirals like OLE. Good luck! Marina
Guest guest
Sorry for stepping into this post, but, what is OLE and immunoglobulins? I believe my son might be suffering from PANDAS, and we will need to get him tested. What kind of tests do we ask for so that he can get checked for PANDAS? He just recovered from a bad throat infection, and I have a nagging feeling that it is more than that. He just finished his antibiotics and we doubled up on the probiotics, and yet we are now dealing with regression, big time. He lost all his gains. He is stimming and is having fears he never had before, like the dark, and the slightest things trigger him off. Also, during all of this he had major facial uncontrollable tics....he never ever had these before. They have become less but still very much there. And, yes, we have an app. to do an EEG (just in case this may be seizure related). The docs are 100% they are not seizures, but regardless, I don't want take any chances. Should I worry that it may be PANDAS? Any advice would be much appreciated...please. Heleni mderman1961 <marinaderman@...> wrote: > > This made me think of OCD, have you had him cultured for strep? Obsessive issues can be linked to strep [a bacteria] and/or viruses. I eliminated strep with olive leaf extract. Viruses with OLE, Virastop, vitamin C, and lysine. >>extreme > hyperness (jumping on chairs at school, This was yeast at my house. >>spitting... This was certain supplements without carnitine. > (On Feingold Diet Stage 2 for 3 years...was GFCF for 6 months/adding back gluten and > casein with enzymes with no negative reactions.) > (1) Zyme Prime per meal > (3/4) AFP Peptizyde per meal This is confusing to me. You write " no negative reactions " , but then you say those behaviors seem to be linked to enzymes. Maybe he does not tolerate those foods after all, or the enzymes. >>If we add Biotin on Friday, would there be die off that would have > eased up by Monday? Depends. I never saw die off symptoms here, we just improved. Some kids do have die off effect. Dana
Guest guest
Thank you so much for everyone's feedback. He had a marked increase in hyperness when we went to a full dose of AFP Peptizyde, but we backed off on the dosage and have now slowly worked our way back up to a full capsule of AFP Peptizyde at each meal along with the Zyme Prime, and he is tolerating them well now. When we have given him meals containing gluten with these enzymes, he has had no adverse reactions whatsoever. He used to have a very agitated (though not hyper) reaction to gluten so this is a big improvement with the enzymes. Sorry for the confusion!
