You should have seen results from GFCF by now...the " rule of thumb "

I have heard is 3 months for results. We saw results much much

quicker though. Make sure you aren't giving him lots of processed

sugar. I have heard of people who feel the yeast started getting

worse because the GFCF foods they started using were big yeast

feeders. Do you know specifically what your son's

yeast/bacteria/vitamin issues are? That will help. I see he has dark

circles...does he have a phenol issue? My son CRAVES bananas, so I

took them away...does that sound mean or what?? :) My son had

constipation too but it is improving. Its great you are getting the

food sensitivity test done. That should help immensely. I have seen

this diet work wonders...before you quit it, make sure you just

don't need to tweak it a bit after getting your food results back.

Constipation is a dead give away that the diet does not include

enough magnesium. We've known this for years, and when Adelle

was read, it was EMPHASIZED.

Sorry, but for some reason I'm getting Enzymes & Autism posts but it

doesn't post my own responses. I'm not deliberately sending

this to you privately, if you wish to share on E & A or elsewhere

its ok with me. Dr. Von

Enzymes in place of GFCF

Hi,

I tried posting last week but I don't think it worked.

Our son has been GFCF for almost 4 months now, he started DPPIV

Enzymes from Kirkmans in November - 1/2 Enzyme with each meal, he

recently started taking 1 full Enzyme with Lunch and Dinner (He

takes ThreeLac at breakfast and didn't know if the Enzyme could

alter it's effects)

Taking away Casein seemed to help some, but with the removal of

Gluten we have not noticed anything - He will is 2y10m now. How long

do you do the diet before noticing results in that age group? If we

tried to just do the Enzymes and add in some Gluten - is 1 Enzyme

sufficient? Will it be like the starting the diet over if it doesn't

work?

He still gets constipated (just started using Dried Prunes to help

with that) still has circles under eyes, etc. We never had the IGg

(but his allergy level is high on one of the tests we had done) I am

going to ask for the IGg when we do more bloodwork at the end of the

month to see what other foods may be bothering him.

He is on Amino Acids (specially formulated) Calcium, Boron, Zinc,

Taurine, L-Carnitine, Actos and a thyroid med. he started TTFD 2

weeks ago, but has a rash at application site (noticed last night)

so we are waiting for DAN to call with advice.

Thanks for any info you may have for us.

Amy,

Thanks for the response. He did start the diet eating the GFCF

cookies and that sort of thing at first, but has cut way back. He

does eat a lot of fruit, but there isn't a certain fruit he craves.

Calcium, Boron and Zinc were all low.

These are his high end yeast results:

Citramalic 2.48 (with 2.0 being the high end of normal)

3-oxoglutaric .75 (with .5 being high end of normal)

Arabinose 166.57 (with 47.0 being the high end of normal)

Carbonoxycitric 54.38 (with 46.0 being high end of normal)

Anaerobic Bacteria:

HPHPA 822.42 (with 150.0 being high end of normal)

Don't know if that tells ya anything.

Our DAN never mentioned Phenol issues and doesn't think it's

necessary to do the IGg test. He believes most of the allergies are

not true allergies and will disappear as he heals. ?

We know he has a possible reaction to tree nuts, so we don't use the

Almond Milk and he won't drink the rice milk.

Thanks for your response.
