Guest guest
I have noticed tha s the years go by, I have become sensitive to glutens. But even the foods that aren't gluten can be a problem. I HATE THIS DIET!! H- lynne0312 <lblanchard65@...> wrote: FYI - I just read Going Against The Grain by Diane and found it helpful. The symptoms of Candida are very similar to Gluten intolerance/ Celiac. She also describes carbohydrate intolerance. Lynne

Guest guest
The book sounds interesting, I'd like to read it, is it a newer book at book stores? Also, I'd like to add that there was an interesting article on the MSM news web page yesterday about a guy who is writing a book about Twinkies and is looking into all 37 ingredients that go into making them. None of the ingredients are actual food ingredients. They are all chemicals to preserve them for a long shelf life. I think so many people are just so ignorant about what is in our food. So sad! An example of how little people think about what they put into their mouths: I am now taking care of a lady (in home health care), who just retired from nursing. She worked for 35 years as a supervisor at a large nursing home. One month after her retirement she had a stroke. She is very thin and her skin is very wrinkled, but she is not very old. She told me that she and her daughters have always been fat free. Her daughter came over and looks anorexic. She is a dental hygenist. Sad when I have to cook for her. Her refrigerator is filled with processed foods, margarines, store bought bakery, all low fat and full of preservatives and no food value. She uses the artificial sweeteners and creamers for her coffee. It is so sad to see someone's health go downhill at such a young age. I hope to bring up to her about eating healthy and good fats, but I don't think she will be open to it. In her eyes she is doing the right thing by going low fat. So sad to see! Guest guest
in TN and Val - Here is a link to the book on Amazon - it was a new release last year: http://www.amazon.com/Omnivores-Dilemma-Natural-History-Meals/dp/1594200823/sr=8\ -1/qid=1172519976/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-9776298-6679301?ie=UTF8 & s=books " Modern " food now fascinates me and makes me realize how very blindly we walk around consuming the toxic stuff. I never thought about those types of things even 2 yrs ago! ~Anita > > The book sounds interesting, I'd like to read it, is it a newer book at book stores? > > Thanks Anita, I'd love to learn more about it. > > in Tennessee
Guest guest
Hi, I just finished reading " The Ultramind Solution " by Dr. Mark Hyman. The book is about healing your body in order to heal your brain. He gives example of supplements that I hadn't read about before and he talks about autism, and ADHD, etc... It is well worth reading. He himself suffered from mercury poisoning among other things. He mentions case studies about autism and talks about 7 basic systems that must be healthy in order to have a healthy brain, among them the immune system, digestion, detoxification, stress, etc...so it's very supportive and in line with biomedical treatment. Even though I read about this stuff every day on the internet and in any book I can find, I still felt like I learned a lot by reading it. from Illinois
