Guest guest
Hi All, My daughter has recently been given this diagnosis. Does anyone else treat their child for ADHD? Do you know of a good website or book to cook the GFCF diet? Is it safe and effective for the whole family to change over. I can't afford two make multiple meals...I'm sure some of you can relate. Also, what supplements do you give your child? Thanks P.S. is talking even more today.
Guest guest
My reccomendation would be the book " Enzymes for Autism " (and adhd) by DeFelice Sustaining a GFCF diet is tough. Not that you can't, but for us the enzymes worked better. As a mom with 4 kids keeping that GFCF diet was difficult. I was using a book called breaking the vicious cycle, and did find that the use of probiotics as in yogurt did wonders for our stomachs. Some people though make their yogurt out of goats milk and some can't have it at all. All the best- one step at a time and remember to breath Your a good Mom for looking in to this. > > Hi All, > > My daughter has recently been given this diagnosis. Guest guest
I have diagnosed w/ ADHD inattentive type. I've been de-yeasting and taking other supplements like cod liver oil, good multi-vitamin, etc, but de-yeasting helped the most. Diet changes are good too - get rid of processed and aritificial foods especially food coloring if she's hyper, eating as wholesome as possible. Less toxins in your body means better overall health. Guest guest
My whole family has been on GF/CF for three years and it works fine. You can all eat healthily and well if you pay attention to making a variety of things, just like with any diet. Enzymes work great for some people but for many others they don't work as well as diet. The only way to know is to try the diet. By the way, Breaking the Vicious Cycle is for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, not GF/CF. SCD is much harder to maintain and much more strict. Many families seem to find that everyone feels better on the GF/CF diet. So many of my (and dh's) chronic health issues cleared up on the diet. My family has lots of ADD/ADHD issues and we have found that GF/CF isn't enough for that- it helps some, but eliminating other things has been much more helpful. For us it's amine foods (histamine mostly), so we eat NO berries, pineapple (no bromelein in enzymes either), spinach, tomato products other than fresh tomatoes, avoid many nuts, NO chocolate, and of course no artificial anything (note that most things called " natural " on the label, like " natural flavor " , are the same as artificial. It's true that petroleum is natural, but we still weren't meant to eat it). The diet is more complicated than that. We've been doing some stuff with amino acids and it's great so far. Also, lots of people with AD/HD seem to do great with mB12, yeast control, and eliminating allergens. You should search the group archives- this thread comes up a lot and there is lots of great advice. -Sierra > > Hi All, > > My daughter has recently been given this diagnosis. Guest guest
Purpledragon is correct GFCF works great for many families. And the SCD diet is strict, plus if you are allergic to nuts it isn't a good fit. We did it with success, but it didn't fit with home school schedule. I'm not supermom as I discovered! The main thing is to find what works- that may seem like a daunting task, but one small step at a time. I found that making the adjustments one step at a time fit better with my child too. So be encouraged- and go for it! > > > > Hi All, > > > > My daughter has recently been given this diagnosis. Does anyone else > > treat their child for ADHD? Guest guest
CAN you take B12 as a supplement instead of the shots? Guest guest
It seems like I've heard people rave about the mB12 nasal spray for AD/HD. We tried the shots before, but for some reason they were agonizingly painful for my son. This seems really unusual so we are going to try again. -Sierra > > > > > > Hi All, > > > > > > My daughter has recently been given this diagnosis. Does anyone else > > > treat their child for ADHD? Guest guest
I read that it can happen because it is not easy to make the concentration from the protocol, son pharmacies have more experience making the shots than other - you can check on dr. neubranders website, he says how the shots should be administered and also which pharmacies are making them. > > > > > > > > Hi All, > > > > > > > > My daughter has recently been given this diagnosis.
