Guest guest
Yes, that's what happened to my son. If you follow Yasko protocol, he may be considered an overmethylator. He's getting to many methyl groups for his body to process. You can try the hydroxy form of b12 to see if he tolerates that better and back down on the amount of folinic acid. Guest guest
I myself got VERY irritable when I gook methyl B12. I used to tolerate it fine, but for some reason I can't anymore (probably because my gut has improved). They say to take methylators to tolerance, so it might be that the dosage is too high for him. Guest guest
I've never heard this term..overmethylator. Could someone elaborate for me? I tried to google it but didn't get an exact answer. And what is the Yasko protocol? Thanks so much!!! > > > Yes, that's what happened to my son. Guest guest
Hi . I just read a great article on this subject in the files section. Here is the link: http://f1.grp.fs.com/v1/wLx1SRMdLd-2s8M7wyryQ8Vx_YNT9itAD981NY6yBx6WgJx-eFB\ oqf8YRKhOYtRQwNwL10kINp3a1e9YOA1pixz1ODEXQRU/Related%20Topics%20and%20Supplement\ s/Methylation Or if that doesn't work, just go the files section of this group, click on Related Topics and Subjects, then click on Methylation. Hope that helps! K > > I've never heard this term..overmethylator. Could someone elaborate > for me? I tried to google it but didn't get an exact answer. Guest guest
Oops, I meant, click on Related Topics and Supplements (not Subjects, LOL), then click on Methylation. Guest guest
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20030525/msgs/229704.html you could have a histidine level drawn to see if it is high or low... if it is high, it means overmethlyation. You could try hyrdoxy b12 injection, he would convert it to methyl if he is high in histidine. the hyrdoxy injections sting really bad..and they are painful. There is a hyrdoxy transdermal cream. All of this needs to be compounded. There are also b12 creams you can try. I know its a challenge to figure our kids out. They are not all the same. They do not all respond to the same things. So I hope this helps you. Gretchen PGH PA From: <gizbaby123@...> Subject: Re: Can b12/folinic acid cause anger issues? At my house, B12 required folic acid and carnitine for proper absorption, and it tended to increase yeast. Try increasing the yeast protocol, see if that helps. Guest guest
Thank you everyone - we are going to speak with his DAN!)when we can afford it!) about methylation - whether he's an over or under - so we can tweak this. Dana, I will try your suggestion, thanks! Susi
Guest guest
I agree it may just be too much. We were doing the shot every other day and our DAN had us double the amount to see if any benefits. He was very angry. When I asked him what was wrong he said " I don't know. Everything is making me mad " . After a year or two we now do the smaller amount every day and that works fine for some reason. We have actually seen improvements in communication and social awareness. Tami @...: katie.mccartney@...: Mon, 19 Jan 2009 23:49:40 -0500Subject: Re: Re: Can b12/folinic acid cause anger issues? Guest guest
We do twice weekly 12.5mg. Compounded methyl without the folinic and my son reacts Like a mad man the first day or two. Then, he is great. I also add folinic acid 400mcg in his morning supplements every day. So it is not in his shot. HTH Gretchen > Yes, that's what happened to my son.
