Guest guest
Id start at 300 mcg and work up. I believe that too much will cause headaches. My six year old takes 10 mg/day divided, but others have gone higher. I give with magnesium and inositol/choline. Have never seen die off with biotin. I dont belive it actaully kills yeast, but inhibits its growth. Karla > > Hi, > > I've been reading a lot about various things to treat yeast and keep seeing biotin mentioned. Guest guest
How much magnesium do you give with biotin. I was giving my almost 4 year old son, 32lbs, 5mg of biotin per day but i didn't realize I should be giving magnesium along with it. Do you give them at the same time? Thank you in advance. Guest guest
Biotin can sometimes cause constipation. Did with my son. He takes 500 mg of mag citrate, but Id start at 100 mg and work up, as too much mag citrate will cause the opposite effect. I give at the same time with meals. I have several questions about dosing: > How much do I give my approximately 110-pound daughter to start, and what do I want to work up to? I started my son with 400mcg and worked up to 20mg 3x per day. > What do I give it with or avoid giving it with as far as cross-reacting? It requires magnesium for proper absorption, and if your son is severely deficient in biotin, it can cause constipation because it will pull all available magnesium. So if you notice constipation, try giving it with magnesium. > Do I need to follow it with activated charcoal or other things to collect the die-off products or does it work differently from things that need that? My kids never had die off symptoms with any yeast control, they just improved. You may not need anything with the biotin. Dana

I was giving my almost 4 year old son, 32lbs, 5mg of biotin per day but i didn't realize I should be giving magnesium along with it. Do you give them at the same time? If you are not noticing any constipation issues, you can try giving 200mg. If that causes diarrhea, remove it. If the constipation is not resolved wit 200mg, try increasing to 400mg. My son required 1000mg at first, because he was severely biotin deficient. I was able to reduce the dose as his body started absorbing the biotin. Guest guest
My son is almost 4 and i just started giving him biotin again. I see that i need to give magnesium along with it. i tried giving him hylands under the tongue tablets, but he chews them instead, so i don't think he will get enough that way. What magnesium should I give him? While at our local Henry's, i noticed that magnesium comes in many different forms. Which is best for a almost 4 year old with pretty severe constipation. Any do I give it to him at the same time as the biotin? I need capsules that I can open and mix in with food. Thanks in advance! How to know whether my kid is deficient in Biotin, any test? If unsure of severity of deficiency, can I give him a maintenance dose og 5 mg per day with magnesium of course? What are the symptoms to look for to be sure that the KID has started absorbing Biotin efficiently?? thanks, sasmita > > How much magnesium do you give with biotin. Guest guest
> How to know whether my kid is deficient in Biotin, any test? If you give biotin and it causes constipation, your child is deficient in biotin. If your child has constant yeast overgrowth problems, then he is biotin deficient. > If unsure of severity of deficiency, can I give him a maintenance dose og 5 mg per day with magnesium of course? You can try that, see if it helps. For a very young child, I would only give 1mg unless you see he needs more. > What are the symptoms to look for to be sure that the KID has started absorbing Biotin efficiently?? Many kids develop headaches if the dose is too high. Yeast overgrowth should be better. Hair, skin, and nails should improve. No constipation issues.
