Guest guest
My son just turned 4 and we have been on biomeds for nearly a year. He is on a great path to recovery (90% there in my opinion). However, lately he will suddenly turn to me with his eyes welled up with tears and ask me if I'm sad. I tell him no. Then he wants a big hug and he is fine in a few minutes. Do you think this is just an emotional " growing up " ? Is there something I should be addressing? Have any of you seen anything like this? It has occurred at home and at school with his teachers today. Thanks for your opinions!
Guest guest
This would be a histamine reaction for myself and my kids. If it is suddenly happening now, in the fall, do you live where it is damp and things are decaying outside? My kids and I are allergic to that and get this sudden sadness. Is it happening after certain foods? Have you added anything recently? -Sierra > > My son just turned 4 and we have been on biomeds for nearly a year. Guest guest
Sierra,  Could you please share what you know about histamine reactions? I've noticed a couple of emails lately about this subject. Everyone in this house is taking allegra except for me. We live near a big farm, on an unpaved road, with fields of golden rod and trees of every sort. Recently we took a trip to the coast and everyone's allergies were gone within 48 hours. After we returned home, it took about 24 hours for the sniffles, headaches, etc. to return.  Thanks, Drissia From: purpledragonmama05 <sierra.ansley@...> Subject: Re: Emotional sadness??? Guest guest
We live in Tampa, FL, so actually the summer rains have stopped and it is much drier. It could be the change in weather. But, I've been wondering about histimine reactions. How do you manage it? I have not noticed a particualar pattern with food intake. We started methyl B-12 shots and glutathione transdermal about 3 months ago and I just wonder how that is changing his entire body (physically, emotionally, etc.). Would it take that long to show signs? Thanks for your reply! > > > > My son just turned 4 and we have been on biomeds for nearly a year. He is on a great path to recovery (90% there in my opinion). Guest guest
I posted my notes about histamine issues on my blog, here's the post: http://roosclues.blogspot.com/2009/09/histadelia-and-low-histamine-diet.html I should add to this that adrenal function can also be a big part of this, so that is also worth looking into. Guest guest
Hmm, my thoughts are that it is probably related to the new supplements. Both can cause yeast, which can cause or exacerbate histamine issues because it overwhelms the methylation process (which is how the body regulates histamine). Also, since these two supps are related to methylation (although you'd think they'd be supporting it), maybe it's just " shaking up " the system and it will even out, or maybe he needs something else to get the cycle working smoothly? Methylation is very complex, and you can have deficiencies in any part that sort of muck up the process. It could be part of a healing thing too. I would think about yeast first, and then if it still there, look more closely at methylation. -Sierra > > We live in Tampa, FL, so actually the summer rains have stopped and it is much drier. We started methyl B-12 shots and glutathione transdermal about 3 months ago and I just wonder how that is changing his entire body (physically, emotionally, etc.). Would it take that long to show signs? Both of those tend to increase yeast, and yeast overgrowth caused emotional issues here. Try increasing the yeast protocol, see if that helps. Guest guest
We have been very fortunate. He has responded very well to every biomed/therapy we have tried. That includes speech and OT as well as many supplements. We also get him regular chiropractic adjustments. The biggest gains we saw were from probiotics, GF/CF/EF diet and mB-12 shots (did them in that order over time). Good luck to you! > > From: H <shiles27@...> > Subject: Emotional sadness??? > > Date: Friday, October 23, 2009, 11:12 AM > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > My son just turned 4 and we have been on biomeds for nearly a year. Guest guest
, I think personally think it's a good sign. My Son with symptoms consistent with Aspergers started being more affectionate after GFCF, probiotics and B12 in Spectrum Complete. Started valuing people over items. I stopped (Probiotics and B12/Spectrum Complete)as well as my wife giving him some coconut milk about 6 months ago and he's regressed in areas as well as ignores me (like I never left) when I come back from a business trip while my NT daughter runs to the door with hugs. > > > > From: H <shiles27@> > > Subject: Emotional sadness??? > > > > Date: Friday, October 23, 2009, 11:12 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > My son just turned 4 and we have been on biomeds for nearly a year. Guest guest
hormonal imbalance maybe?... my son who is almost six seeks out hugs for sensory input but our problem was not so much emotional sadness but with  him  getting aggressive and non compliant in school. His Naturopath attributes this to poor adrenal (low cortisol) and thyroid function.  He put my son on: Drenatrophin PMG- Adrenal support                             Iodemere - Thyroid support                             Min Chex- calming for nervous system                            Calcium powder- very calming                             Magnesium  - calming   I mix these in his juice and he much more balanced emotionally. Haven't had any problems (acting out) in school since. These supps are available through Standard Process or you can buy from a Naturopathe.   From: H <shiles27@...> Subject: Re: Emotional sadness??? Guest guest
This is where you play detective and go by gut. So for us sadness has degrees. Sadness, weepiness (everything elicits tears) For us that's viral Sadness, anger (tears of frustration) For us that's yeast Sadness, remembering past hurts, oversensitive Serious illness coming on, or missed supplements and serious regression coming on.. You'll look for key markers to decide red ears, eczema, for us that also helps to direct towards yeast or a food infraction lots of bowel movements, lethargy, for us that helps point towards viral Of course it could also be adjustment to a treatment or supplement, but you indicated you'd been doing biomeds for a year and didn't mention any new changes.
