Guest guest
Hi Daphne, I have read (and experienced) that whenever enzymes are tried for the first few days to weeks, that regression sometimes occurs. They sweep up a lot of stomach/intestine debris also, and sometimes you can have a small die off effect. We did the chewable and only gave one with each meal. I think three may have been a high dose for the first time.If he needs more you can gradually increase. I know that my kids cannot tolerate wheat with any enzymes at all. You may want to have your son tested for Celiac, but also test his IgA antibodies as well. They can indicate Celiac type symptoms. Hope this helps, Susi
Guest guest
My experience is limited to dairy infraction since gluten doesn't bother me and I took Trienza. Anyway, I took the trienza and ate dairy with no ill effects until the fourth day. What I have gathered is that I can have dairy in limited amounts and several days in between as long as I use the enzymes. I have an almost immediate reaction without enzymes. Maybe your child is not ready for this step. -Undiagnosed Asperger's Syndrome Stay at home mom to 3, Wife to -6-6-02-Autism Spectrum, the light of my life Katy-11-19-03-undiagnosed genetic syndrome that includes cleft palate-Pierre Robin Sequence, scoliosis, heart defects, short stature, low muscle tone, developmental delay, oral defensiveness, g tube fed part time-working on oral feeding, slightly dysmorphic features, and my joy J.D-no issues except he is totally in love with mommy, cutest baby in the world visit my blog http://busiestmommyinamerica.blogspot.com " If you think my hands are full, you should see my heart! We gave him 3 AFP Peptizyde chewables with water abour 10 minutes before the infraction. Within 1.5-2 hours after the infraction he was exhibiting pre-diet behaviors: whispering to self, gibberish, unresponsive to questions, visually stimming. It was very clearly related to the wheat, as he has not had these behaviors for a very long time. I am planning on doing another challenge soon with the same exact food. This time, I am planning on giving him 2 GlutenEase 15 minutes before the infraction. Has anyone experienced GlutenEase working for their child when AFP chewable has not? (We also do supplements, some Cutler chelation, but everything has been stable prior to the dietary infraction.) Any insight appreciated! Guest guest
I agree, 3 AFP Peps were probably too much for a first time. We have had good luck with occasional wheat infractions by using 2 Trienza and 1 GlutenEase. Nothing will help with dairy or soy, however. Guest guest
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Actually, he has taken 2 to 3 AFP chewables for a year now, even with being gfcf. So, the reaction was definitely not from the AFP chewables.
