Guest guest
I had an MRI for MS testing. Two actually. I think it is perfectly safe without the contrasting agent. With contrasting agent then I think there is some risk for patients with compromised kidneys. What does the Dr want to check for? You can request no contrasting agent if you are concerned. Guest guest
It depends on whether or not they plan to give him contrasting dyes. MRI's are magnetic resonance imaging, so basically you are put into a strong magnetic field. It seems to be mainly safe at least that is what they tell us, unless they want to give injected or contrast dyes because those contain metals or other toxins. So if it's just a regular MRI and he needs it. Probably ok. > > Hi folks, > I just would like to know about the safety of an MRI and a 13 y/o boy. > Thanks, > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi I think that MRI's are quite safe. If a contrasting agent is used I believe that it is usually Iodine, which can be iffy especially if there is an allergy to this. MRI's are very noisy and can be claustraphobic.
