Hummm.... So she's not constipated? How often does she go?

If her voluminous stool floats in the water then she's not digesting

fat most likely due to lipase deficiency.

Does she have any other digestive problems? I would really look at her stool

to see if you can see anything else like undigested food particles, mucus,

blood, etc. You could just try a broad-spectrum digestive enzyme to see if

anything goes away.

If she's constipated then I would try magnesium and/or vitamin C.

Thanks for your response . She usually goes everyday, so I don't think

she's constipated, but then why would she have such large stools? They don't

float. They are like a brick! I will look next time she goes to see if anything

looks strange. How does such a tiny girl have such large stools? Should I start

with magnesium? Thanks a bunch!

Okay , My daughter said she only goes every other day or every two days. I

didn't know that. She keeps a wire hanger in the bathroom wrapped up, so that

everytime she goes, she can break it up before she flushes. She said it doesn't

float, it hurts when she goes, but she's gotten used to it and she said it looks

like it has little yellow pieces in it, she described it as looking like smashed

corn, but it's in there everytime she goes???? So what does it sound like? Poor

kid!

Hi, .

I would look at her diet too - does she eat a lot of dairy? Rice? If I have

too much of either of these I'm guaranteed to have difficulties in the

bathroom! They say bananas and apples do the same thing, but I haven't found

that to be true with me.

She does sound constipated. I would start with a bit of magnesium and

gradually increase it. Too much can decrease calcium levels, so I wouldn't

give her too much. Vitamin C is safer, so I would try a little bit of that

too - maybe try this one first.

Both my nieces (4 and 6) are on Miralax, and I'm having them try mag and C

also. I also found Yummi Bears Fiber supplement by accident, - it's

basically chicory root. Chicory root contains inulin which is supposed to be

good for yeast control too, so kill two birds in one stone!. They take that,

and it seems to help. Just make sure not to take too much fiber at the same

time as other supplements as it can prevent nutrients from being absorbed.

And make sure to drink plenty of water!

Oh, I can't forget about her link:

Thank you so much ! She drinks quite a bit of Vit D milk, oatmeal every

morning, turkey sandwich for lunch, and then a pretty balanced dinner, with a

little snacking sometimes. SHe doesn't eat a lot, but does like milk. How much

mag and C should I give her, so I on't run into problems. As I said she's only

about 105 pounds.

To me I would take a trip to the allergist maybe to get some food allergy

testing done. Skin, blood, at least check the basic major either. Look at

diet, like milk. Pull at least for a couple weeks and see if she gets better.

A good probiotics would not hurt and try enzymes for better digestion. Those

alone may do the trick.

I forgot to mention probiotic! When I was picking out which brand I should

try, there were many reviews about how probiotics helped with constipation.

I would then try a broad-spectrum digestive enzyme (you can get cheaper ones

but still good quality to try it out first). I'm not sure what the yellow

things that look like corn are, but I would run it by a nutritionist or a

naturopath, or a DAN, I suppose. Traditional doctors are just concerned with

treating the symptoms and not the cause, hence the Miralax.

C and magnesium will also just treat the symptoms, but I feel that these 2

nutrients are very basic and commonly deficient in many people. For C, I

would start with 100-200mg/day. I would say she can probably go up to

500mg/day. C with rosehips is absorbed really well. Split up the doses and

eat with a meal.

For magnesium, I would start less than the RDA (360mg for a 16yo girl) and

slowly work up to that amount. RDA is a bare minimum you need, so you can go

over that. Have her take it when she drinks milk.

I like this site for checking food sources of nutrients. So if you think

she's getting enough from her diet, you wouldn't need to supplement as much.

Cooking and non-organic foods destroy a lot of the nutrients, so you'll have

to take that into consideration.

Some people swear by blueberries! And the good ol' prune juice!

Hi Sandy

Would you like to try some samples of DigestGold? I would recommend

one with every meal and see how that works. That would be one with

each meal. Candidase and ProBio are two other products I've seen many

take with great success. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

  • 3 weeks later...

Alessandra,

Thanks for your response. If you think the Digest Gold would be good for her to

try, I would love to get samples before making a purchase. I've since taken

milk out of her diet because she started complaining of really bad stomach aches

everyday along with the severe constipation. I also started giving her my son's

left over Threelac that didn't agree with him along with Buddy Bear Digest that

was also left over. She seems to be a bit better, but I think she needs

something stronger. You mentioned the Digest Gold, Candidase and Probio. Should

she take all of those or just one? I've never heard of Candidase and Probio.

Thanks for your help!

I also told you I would let you know about my 29 month old who has autism. We

saw our new DAN! last weekend and he sounds like he really knows his stuff. He

wants me to try giving mt son Houston Zyme Prime Chewables

                    Houston Nutraceuticals Chewables

                    Houston TriEnza.

I believe he wants me to try him on all of these, but waiting at least a week in

between introducing each of them. Does that sound right? There are many more

supplements he would like him to try, but I think these three are the only ones

through Houston.

Let me know what you think about my daughter and son's needs. I really

appreciate it.

Thank you,
