My son required mito cocktail for just over a year. Which supps are

you planning to use? I will tell you what doses I used.

I'm not sure which ones too use. Among other things, He can't digest

fats. For instance he gets the chic bumps after eating avocado &

almonds. And nuts don't digest either.

Hi there,

My 3 year old got the following in his mito cocktail from our mito. Dr. at KKI.:

Coq10 180 mg,

Vit. E 450 iu,

Vit C 720 mg,

Carnitin 900 mg,

ALA 180 mg,

Biotin 2 mg, and

Pantothenate 135 mg.

Please forgive my spelling on some of this as I can't really read the

pharmacists writing but hope it helps.

I think I'm misunderstood what a mitococktail was. But I now realize

its not something given just once and its also something prescribed by

the child's doc.

Just so you know, you dont need a DR to give your child the

mitococktail, a lot of folks here are giving their children their own

variations. HTH. Blessings Conrad

Thanks, I wasn't sure. But how does one know what to give their child?

it's true that you don't need a prescription to give the mito

cocktail, BUT if you can get it prescribed you can get it compounded

and covered by insurance. and if you get it compounded, it's a much

smaller volume of stuff that your child will have to take.

our DAN! was more than willing to call in the prescription for us. we

went through Lee Silsby.

Hi there,

If you want to get one compounded at a pharmacy without going to a Dr. you can

see Dorfman. Shes a nutritionist out of Potomac land but does phone

consultations. We get a lot of the supplements that our DAN! ordered combined

and compounded into a multi vit through her and its so much easier to give the

little guys. I don't have her number handy but you can google her. She is

wonderful and presents at a number of the conf. in the DC area. We saw her

before our DAN! as the wait was less to get into her plus a number of the

supplements that Dr. Bock had told us to do we were already on by the time we

had our first appt.. She also had us taking a number of the supplements in our

mitococktail before my guys were even diagnosised with type 1 mitochondrial

disease. She could tell they had issues based on the symptoms I was telling her.

I have a list of mito supps on my site page

http://www.danasview.net/mar05.htm

Research each one, and start one at a time with low dose. The most

important for my son were CoQ10, carnitine, taurine, and vitamin K.

I did not use a doctor. Everything I did was OTC, including mito

cocktail.

My family each takes 1000 mg per day. It's great stuff- good for

anyone to take.

I started at 250mg and worked up from there as required.
