Guest guest
We had this problem. Mylicon helped (we were in a pinch.) It does go away. Can you try splitting the dose? or lowering it slightly? We were told that " you have to find your dose. "
Guest guest
Thanks. It's good to know that this problem resolved for your child. I can't give him Mylicon because he's on the SCD. I tried giving him some chamomile tea this morning, though. I'll see if that helps him. I did lower the dose after finding he needed two capsules in the beginning. Now he's only taking 1 1/4 capsules, which seems to be the minimum dose he needs. But it still makes him uncomfortable every day until he poops. > > > We had this problem. Guest guest
Have you tried using Magnesium glycinate and/Vit C? That helps keep my son regular. But really what helped him the most was healing his leaky gut with probiotic, digestive enzymes, Gastro Support by Kirkman Labs and Biocidin for the bacteria he has a result of being so constipated for years. Constipation is a side affect from something else going on biomedically. Yeast/bacteria/food allergies/leaky gut, etc. Joanne > > > > > > We had this problem. Guest guest
How much magnesium glycinate and how much vitamin C do you have to give your son to keep him regular? How much does he weigh? I agree with you on the gut healing, but he's been on SCD for three months and is still constipated. (He was constipated before going on SCD.) I have tried probiotics, but they only helped very slightly and inconsistently. He is taking enzymes. I think his encopresis is to the point where it is undermining efforts to heal his gut, and I need to keep him cleaned out so the deeper healing measures can be more effective. > > > > > > > > > We had this problem. Guest guest
Hi,I always use oxy powder we have a few bad days till she gets regular.I have only used 1 or 2 at a time.My daughter is 10yr 107 lb. Sounds like yours is much smaller.Cut in half or use every other day.Good luck DEB K > > Hello, I want to ask the group members about their experiences with Oxy Powder, because I know a lot of people in this group have had success using it to resolve their child's constipation. I started my 21 month old on Oxy Powder almost two weeks ago. He used to poop just once a week, and he had a lot of trauma getting it out, most of the time. The Oxy Powder is working to clean him out. But he gets bloated and suffers from very bad gas pain and maybe even cramping. Then once he poops he seems to feel wonderful. He's like a different little boy. > > I'm getting scared because he's so little and the product is so powerful. It seems to put him through so much pain. Guest guest
Hi  We started my son on oxypowder at about the same age. I found I could give less if I gave it before bed with lemon water. He always seemed uncomfortable before a bm...he would get all frantic like..pacing and nervous which seemed to get worse with oxypowder. As he got older we realized it was because he was trying to hold it in ( which obviously makes one uncomfortable and gassy) Just something to look for. You could try giving it every other night for a while and see if that helps. I know, when they are so little ..makes it even harder to figure out.    40 and Mom to three Tash 23 ooops..new Mommy ( I'm a Grammy to Kyri 2 ) Casey-Mae 14..sweet as pie Elijah 3.5 .. Guest guest
My son weighs 78 lbs. and we give him 1500 Vit C/day and one Kirkman Buffered Magensium Glycinate cap/day. He also get other forms of magnesium in his multi vit. We give him just enough to keep motility, but not soft/loose stools. Once you see loose/too soft stools, back off a bit on dosage of both. My son was GF/CF for 10 mos and was still constipated. Not until I started digestive enzymes, probiotics in AM/PM, Gastro Support and Biocidin did his constipation go away. If I back off on any of these, it will return. > > > > > > > > > > > > We had this problem. Mylicon helped (we were in a pinch.) > > > > It does go away. Guest guest
Just wanted to provide an update in case my story might help somebody else. I've found that giving him probiotics with the Oxy Powder relieves him from the extreme bloating and gas. I have been giving him GI Pro Infant probiotics, and they made a difference immediately. I think it's the bifidobacterium that are making the difference. He's so much happier now, and life no longer revolves around poop! I suspect his problem was much, much worse than just constipation. I think he had a lot of compacted waste in his colon, making his passage narrow, and making it very difficult and painful for him to poop, once he finally did. The Oxy Powder has cleaned him out, and it's been getting easier for him. He's starting to get used to pooping again. Once he's been regular a while, I will try using magnesium and maybe also vitamin C. FWIW, I've found that it also works great to give s. boulardii with the Oxy Powder. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > We had this problem. Mylicon helped (we were in a pinch.) > > > > > It does go away.
