Guest guest
With my guy with severe food allergies, that would be an allergic reaction to something. I've heard my doctor call it a smooth sand paper rash. Maybe a new food to add to your list. I'm there with ya and so feel your pain! My guy gets a small fever and tired and may also throw up. Tammy Strange rash -- what does it mean? My son (celiac and multiple food allergies) keeps getting a recurring rash. It covers his torso, arms and legs. It is sandpapery, red and looks like really bad dry skin. I've watched his diet like a hawk regarding gluten and known allergens. He had an epsom salt bath last night -- at that time I thought his skin looked blotchy. Then this morning he had the full rash. He is also a bit tired today but other than that he is well. Any insights? Thank you in advance. -

Is it itchy? If so, it sounds exactly like my #2 when he had vitamin A toxicity rash. If you are giving any vitamin A, try dropping it for a week. My son's toxicity rash took about a week to disappear. http://www.danasview.net/vitamina.htm Otherwise, it might be an intolerance, food or supplement. Try rotating your foods, see if you can determine which one/s it is. Dana
Guest guest
Not to put a scare in ya..just FYI: My girlfriends child just had the same rash..she complained of a minor " scratchy " throat a week prior to the rash...turned out it was scarlet fever. The only reason why I mentioned it, cause these kids have a tendency to carry strep and strep, undetected, can turn to Scarlet Fever. This was the case with my friends child. http://www.wellnessmoms.com/cgi-bin/team.cgi?id=Gi2121 & action=show > > My son (celiac and multiple food allergies) keeps getting a recurring > > rash. Guest guest
Thank you for these ideas everyone. I really appreciate the help. -- I am dropping supplements and will see what happens. Also I will try the rotating -- is there a good site that gives guidelines on this? If he has a corn allergy could the fructose in the Houston chewables be a problem? If avoiding soy -- does that mean soy lecithin also? I've wondered about the Vit A also -- all I give is CLO -- does he need something to help metabolise this? In the meantime he has come down with a nasty cough. Egads. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
Actually last time he had this rash he ran a fever a few days later and the doctor thought Scarlet fever and put him on antibiotics. I will keep and eye on this -- he has developed a bad cough and congestion but no fever. Thank you for your thoughts. --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make your homepage. Guest guest
I am curious about rashes also. My son at a very young age (now 9yrs almost 10) was told he had eczema and it was pretty ugly to look at on a pretty baby. He turned 2yrs and it was gone. The eczema is like the chapped skin that was discussed in the previous message. Recently he started getting some dry patches that were similar but it started breaking out with what someone said looked like shingles. these medium sized lesions and the middles have now bursted and just a ring around the outside of the skin that broke. They were bright red and looked nothing like " just dry skin " as the doc said. Not a DAN! We put a ton of vaseline on and the color was faded. I'm wondering would anyone know if this is a virus trying to come out onto skin? We're not GF/CF and he is pretty overweight. Gained about 20-30 lbs in 8 months and we are trying to figure out what is going on. We are getting ready to try Threelac had a really high 247 Arabinose on the GPL Organic Acid Test. I wasn't sure if it was a virus or Dermititus Herpetiformus if he is allergic to wheat or something. Any thoughts would be appreciated. No improvement on nystatin and not sure where to go as far as treatment!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Try it now.

Guest guest
In my millions of hours of autism research, I have heard eczema mentioned on numerous occasions. Dr. Bock mentions in his famous book that " excema, acne and hives are extremely common reactions to food allergies and sensitivities. " Have you had the testing done? > > I am curious about rashes also. My son at a very young age (now 9yrs almost 10) was told he had eczema and it was pretty ugly to look at on a pretty baby. Guest guest
I know with my child, the weight issues wher due to NOT being GFCF. Her intestines were swollen, due to the intolerence of the foods and yeast overgrowth from antibiotics Took a few months on GFCF and NO MORE antibiotics for her belly to start going down. I would TOTALLY suggest GFCF diet. As for the red eczema chapped skin..her eczema would get worse when she would eat dairy or wheat..the redness, was either a viral die off or yeast die off...either way a good sign for my child. She too does Threelac..and, so far the results are good! So, worth a try http://www.saferforyourhome.com/philosophy.htm The Toxins in Your Home Could be Making You and Your Family Sick! Guest guest
My 6yo Aspergers son had the rash over Christmas. Pedi said it was BAD eczema and gave us steroid cream, which cleared it quickly. He also had quite a respiratory infection with no fever, so we just rode that one out. Now the rash is back, he's getting congested. We work with Dr. Pouls and it is time to repeat urinalysis. We collected urine all day yesterday, and I am really concerned because there is almost 1/2 inch of white sediment in container. Should I rush him into the doc or wait until Friday when Dr. Pouls' lab would get results back to us? He is seriously overweight (78 lbs) and dairy free. Any advice? Guest guest
Hi, have you looked into it being ringworm? -angi
Guest guest
My son is almost 130lbs. I hope the threelac will help. If that doesn't help, we are going GF/CF we have never done the food allergy testing only with seasonal allergens they said he wasn't deathly allergic to wheat/milk. or nuts. --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals?
