You need to understand something. You and I both know there are many causes for

autism, even among those who are vaccine damaged.Mercury and metals are not

autoimmune reactions, and should not be treated the same way.

The medical definition of autism is this:

Autism is defined in terms of a triad of impairments:

social relationships

social language and communication skills

imagination

The

triad is usually accompanied by repetitive patterns of behaviour and

interests, and often by challenging behaviour. Around 75% of children

with autistic spectrum disorders have general learning difficulties

that fall in the moderate (IQ 35-50) range. The children usually have

an uneven pattern of cognitive strengths and weaknesses, with reading

decoding skills often being way ahead of comprehension - a condition

known as hyperlexia. Around 10% of the children have a special skill in

such areas as music, art or computational skills. http://www.devdis.com/asd.html

Nothing else.You know that's bullshit,I know that's bullshit,but this is the

condition they are talking about when they are talking about " autism " .That's

it.Not all of the other stuff that we have.In their minds, this doesn't exist.Do

any of you read the medical studies for autism, where they say children with

other medical,or neurological conditions were excluded ?

Really, the best we can do is hope that our condition will eventually be

recognized as something other than " autism " ,because for a lot of us,it really is

a mysterious autoimmune/inflammatory, and metabolic complex with " features of

autism. " Even people like Dr. Tayloe,of  The American Academy of

Pediatrics, are starting to throw around terms like " autoimmune

encephalopathy " ,to describe the condition many of us deal with, and call autism.

I think we stand a much better chance of  being taken seriously if we are

willing to think this might be something other than " autism " .

I now return you to your regularly scheduled chelation thread.

" But the study was a small one and did not rely on rigorous, comprehensive

diagnoses of autism for the participants, so it may just stir the pot for people

on both sides of the debate. "

uh...shouldn' t this be at the beginning of the article...so even people who

only read half don't miss this IMPORTANT FACT!!! There could have been kids in

the research group that were misdiagnosed.

Or, even better, lets not forget that autism is probably a general diagnosis

that gets slapped on people who may have very different causes behind the

psychological symptoms. This, like every other study I've ever seen, appears to

have lumped the autism community into one. So while some of those kids might be

suffering from autism as a result of tuberous sclerosis or God knows what,

watering down the study. the portion of the autism community that IS suffering

as a result of the GI issues is made to look like fools to the general

community. Fantastic research, folks!

and...i would love to know how they decided if the autistic kids had gi

problems. are they relying on self report? because at his worst, my kid

couldn't tell you his stomach hurt. we had to watch for subtle behaviors. like

posturing and changes in bloating, something a doc might not see in a 15 minute

visit.

aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh h!!!!!!!! !!!!

can't wait to see what the media does with this!
