Hi delete,

Very interesting post. I have some of the same problems you have. And some

of the things that helped you help me too.

I still take 5htp, mainly at night, but I do try to take one every morning.

Sometimes it does make me very drowsy, even when its a very sunny day.

I took something (still have not found it again) that made my nails grow.

Loved having nice hands for the first time in my life.

I benefit greatly from epsom salts soaks. Do you take them?

Hope you get some response on here.

May I ask what is your first name or nickname, and how old you are? I am 52.

Warmest Regards,

<deleteupon12> Sun Dec 28, 2008 10:58 pm (PST) I

have some of the same symptoms as autism, because I have ocd,

anxiety, and what I call tickish feelings, which, tho not a problem

to me, are noticable if I don't suppress them. I feel that some

symptoms of autism and ocd may have chemical imbalance similarities.

I have vertigo and dizziness, which are due to my anxiety. I tried a

digestive enzyme with mostly sucrase/invertase in it, and my vertigo,

and anxiety symptoms became severe, so that lets me know high blood

sugar in anxiety/ocd is not a good thing. Sucrase/invertase, the

enzyme that digests sugar, causes higher blood sugar levels, and it

is in most broad spectrum digestive enzyme supplements. It is in a

lot of digestive enzyme supplements. Some of the enzymes I tried

made me extremely drowsy, which could mean that my tryptophan is

being inhanced, which is what I want, because tryptophan creates

serotonin. I wish I knew which one it was, but there were so many

enzymes in the products. Different enzymes did different things. Some

of the enzymes gave me clarity, some gave me energy, some helped my

nails grow fast, some did nothing, some made me clearheaded, some

made me worse, some made me lose my appetite for a short time, some

alleviated digestive problems, some exacerbated digestive problems,

and some caused me to lose 20 lbs in 1 and ½ months without changing

my diet or exercising, and I am one who can never lose weight. So,

all of these enzymes are amazingly proficient, but there needs to be

a way to take them individually so we can all find what works best. I

just learned about the connection with digestive and metabolic

enzymes recently, when I looked on here, and agree that tryptophan

has a hard time competing with other amino acids. I would like to

know which enzymes will raise, specifically, tryptophan. I tried

trypsin and chymotrypsin and bromain and papain, but they made me

wired and i lost my appetite. They raise tyrosine and phenylalanine

as well, so im sure the tryptophan had a hard time competing. I have

also heard of the enzyme tryptophanase, and wonder if it is a

digestive enzyme, and if it might help ocd symptoms in autism and ocd

and anxiety sufferers? I cannot find tryptophanase anywhere on the

market. What if they made digestive enzymes more specific? Sold them

individually, so people could see exactly which enzymes they need?

Will companies tool up for that, and would researchers intervene in

order to find what works for everyone? I also tried 5-htp. It

eliminated my physical symptoms of anxiety, and my tickish feelings,

yet made me feel like I was on a hypnotic drug several hours later. I

don't advocate it, but it " cured " my anxiety for a limited time, so

that tells me that my anxiety/ocd are related to low serotonin. I've

known my anxiety/ocd was a sensory loss, for a long time. I've made

myself a bit of a guina pig in order to help myself and family

members with low serotonin. I feel digestive/metabolic enzymes are

involved in a lot of disorders, and that most, if not all, disorders

have similar chemical imbalances, so we can all learn from each

other. For instance, people with Tourettes can have severe ocd,

people with anxiety can have ocd and ticks, people with autism have

ocd, etc. These similarities need to be researched as well.Anyway,

hope this gives others something to look into, or helps in some way.
