Hi Pam,

I'm certainly no expert but thinking you need pancreatin enzymes for protein

malabsorption? Vital Nutrients makes a great pancreatin with Ox Bile supplement.

Also, many experts say that maldigestion is due to a lack of stomach acid so C

in the form of ascorbic acid may also be important in helping digestion. If more

stomach acid is needed and he can swallow capsules or tablets you can use

Betaine hydrochloric acid. This cannot be mixed with food as the acid erodes

tooth enamel.

From my understanding carbohydrate and sugar malapsorption respond best to plant

enzymes such as discussed here, but thinking there will be those who think

differently.

Question about Houston Nutraceuticals open bottle

Hi,

My name is Pam. I've been a member off and on for a few years but

rarely post since my kids are no longer on enzymes. Until now.

My ASD son's ELISA apparently shows high reaction to chicken, beef and

pork (don't have copies yet). I can't remember the last time my son

even tasted beef or pork, but chicken is his main protein source. I am

going to start up DPP-IV enzymes.

I just happen to have a bottle of Houston AFP chewables from my other

son. They have been open for perhaps even as long as a year. They are

not expired (09/08). Are they still active? We live in WI so the

summers are hot and humid. I can't guarantee how they have been stored

(we do have air conditioning). They seem to look OK... not sweaty or

broken down.

Thanks! I know that is more info than needed. I am thinking I should

just order new bottles.

Pam
