Guest guest
My son (9 y. old, ASD) has a huge yeast problem. I've tried everything possible, with no success. I'm thinking about increasing his digestive enzymes dosage (in order to leave less undigested food to feed the yeast), but I'm afraid that could cause him stomach pain. He takes 2 capsules of Enzyme Complete DPP-IV (Kirkman) per meal. Do you think it would be OK to give him 3 caps/meal ? A friend of mine that had stomach issues told me that enzymes made him worse. I've tried 6 capsules on myself, without problems (and I have a very sensitive stomach). Please, give me your insights, listmates. L. Guest guest
Hi there, Have you considered giving him something specific to managing yeast overgrowth? You could try continuing the digestive enzymes (this is always beneficial to the body) as well as in between his meals giving him a formula with high cellulase and protease blends, such as Candidase by Enzymedica for instance. 30k of cellulase and 100k of protease should be sufficient. I would usually recommend a digestive enzyme with each meal along with the Candidase 3x a day but since he's already taking that, that's good. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar enough with Enzym-Complete DPP-IV to say whether or not it would hurt his stomach increasing the dosage. Although, if it were me, I would start off increasing it just by half of a capsule and see how this affects him. Then every few days increase it some more, and some more, depending on if it's benefitting him or if it's just a waste. I hope this helps, even if just a little. Hey, also too, enzymestuff.com has a lot of interesting information you might like reading. It talks a lot about enzymes and autism and how enzymes can affect our children for the benefit. I just thought of that and figured you might like to take a few minutes to check it out. I hope you guys get this figured out soon!
