Guest guest
We started MB12 with our six year old son about six weeks ago. He has had a fairly difficult reaction...lots more rage, aggression, up and down mood swings, etc. We are hopeful that it's because his body is waking up a bit and he's more aware of it. Could also be that the MB12 is kicking up more yeast. Charcoal and salt baths are helping. However, I can't say we've seen a good positive reaction yet. He is PDD-NOS and fairly close to recovered, but his MAP from Genova showed a significant need for methylation improvement. So we're hoping that the good reactions will kick in any day now...and the bad ones will go away. We see a little bit better eye contact with him, but that's about it. He is verbal. Our DAN wants us to keep going a bit longer. We'll keep going another month or two, but are quite weary of the riding this roller coaster of emotions with him. My son is diagnosed with Aspergers, OCD, ADD...He has lots of attention and focus issues, anxiety, socialization issues, poor eye contact, etc... > > How long does it take to work? At what point do you try nasal spray? Has anyone tried that? He is also doing the sublingual B-12. My son doesn't like the shots but we had such high hopes for them. Guest guest
, We have been using the shots for 5 weeks now. My son is almost 8, high functioning, and almost non distinguishable form his peers at times. I say almost because he scripts sometimes, and has anger issues among other things. We still have a long way to go! At first, we did the shots every 3 days. I noticed that because my son has noooooo fat on his body, that the angle to inject has to be completely horizontal. I watched each day to see when the pink spot would disappear, and it seemd to still be going away in 24 hours. He actually asked for his " pinch " whe he got to 24 hours out. I spoke to his pediatrician about it and she upped him to every two days, then every day. After going to every day we noticed a huge difference. He has more energy, is speaking age appropriately, asking really huge questions about life and making comments about things. It really has made a difference. Now, of course, we have all our other supplements and diet in place - but to date only going GFCF has made as much of a difference as mB12. We tried sublingual and had minimal success. Please don't give up, just ask about giving more often! We also use the EMLA cream before a shot to have no pain associated with it.His anger is still there, but is shorter in duration, and he is easier to deal with after the incident. It does get better. Hope this helps, Susi
Guest guest
Hi Sara Are you giving folic or folinic acid? This may help, although some kids do not tolerate methylators very well. We gave our son Mb12 sub-lingual, he did well at first and then it did not seem to make any difference and then he became irritable, agitated and a bit aggressive, which apparently can be a fairly common problem with methylators. At my house, several months. I used oral/sublingual. It required carnitine, folic acid, and B2 for proper absorption. It also tended to increase yeast, so I had to increase the yeast protocol. When I gave it with TMG and the above supps, things improved quite a bit. >>He is also doing the sublingual B-12. How much do you give? Guest guest
You son sounds like mine, who just turned 8 this month. We have been doing the shots for about...3+ years and I just decided to take a break from it for about a month and a half to see if there was a difference. I plan to start them again soon to see if I notice anything going back. When we first started we noticed very little things right away like my son commented on the windshield wipers when it was raining. He had seen windshield wipers a million times but he commented on it. They said to look for very little things. Ultimately I think it was great for him. But do think he had more aggression on them. Actually doing the Feingold diet (no preservatives/artificial colors and flavors) helped a huge amount with aggression, emotions, meltdowns. I think preservatives in crackers and stuff are his worst offenders. Now that he is off of the shots I am not sure if he is acting kind of out of it because he isn't on them or whether it is something else. He is in a regular ed 2nd grade class and this year we noticed much more ADD type symptoms. You know our kids are like roller coasters, they have a great period and then a low period. Anyway good luck!
Guest guest
Our DAN wants to just stick with the MB12 for a bit without adding anything else. But his Genova labs suggested a huge need for folic/folinic so I'm hoping that will be part of the plan soon. We've had such a rollercoaster with him the last few weeks that I'm hesitant to try anything on my own that might " upset the apple cart. " We're just too exhausted right now. We thought he was a bit under-methylator because of high histamine, and the Genova labs also suggested a great need for MB12. Also have read that a more intense beginning reaction can signal that this will really help overall, but after three weeks, I guess we're just either getting impatient or we're just in need of a reprieve from the chaos we've been living for the past year (my son had a violent anesthesia reaction that triggered all this and left him on the spectrum...with all the behavioral craziness). Thanks. > > Hi Sara > > Are you giving folic or folinic acid? > This may help, although some kids do not tolerate methylators very well.
