Guest guest
You can also try an ozonated magnesium such as Mag07. I hear from others with the constipation issue that this really works and is very gentle. We have the diarrhea in our house, so I can't tell you from personal experience. I have seen it in most healthfood stores and here is one place to read about it: http://www.oxystore.com/magnesium_oxides.asp Jane Mama to 7 (ASD) and 4 (NT- with gut issues)
Guest guest
Before our family went GFCF, we used to put a spoonful of Kayro syrup in my son's milk. Now if he get's constipated we use apricot juice.. Hope this helps:) Has anyone had success treating chronic constipation in an autistic child? I've tried fiber supplements, laxatives, high fiber foods. He drinks plenty of fluids but he doesn't like water. I don't know how to get him to have a regular BM schedule. If he has a BM today, he may not go for a couple of days. On the third day he may go in tiny portions(which may be hard or soft) at varying intervals over a few hours. These usually happen as accidents in his pants. On the fourth day he may have a large regular BM and is more likely to go to the toilet. The milder laxatives we tried(prune juice, mineral oil, Milk of Magnesia) would either cause gas or diarhea when used on a regular basis. The fiber kept the stool soft but it didn't solve the problem of him going in tiny portions. Exlax doesn't cause gas or diahrea but I don't want to give it to him every day. If anyone has had experience with this please help. Guest guest
Joy, Is water oz the same as ozonated magnesium recommended by Jane in another reply?Joy Brown <joy.brown@...> wrote: I am dealing with this some as well. My son once had chronic diarhea and now it is constiptation. The four day schedule is very familiar. MOM gives him cramps, fiber makes him gassy. What has helped my son is making him go sit on the toilet after supper each night. The bigger the meal beforehand the better. Another mom on here recommends water oz and I think I will check that out too. Joy treating constipation Has anyone had success treating chronic constipation in an autistic child? Removing foods that are constipating, increasing magnesium, increasing vitamin C, and increasing yeast protocol are the most common. Guest guest
Have you tried " Calm " which is a magnesium supplement? You put it in hot boiling water, let it dissolve and drink afterwards like tea. I use the raspberry/lemon flavor which has stevia in it and it tastes pretty good and has helped my constipation. Hope this helped. > > what are the most effective things that people are using/doing to treat constipation? >
