Did he have a ferritin test for the iron? My son was very low but we decided to

use cast iron pans when cooking some of his food. We also give Oj or another

citrus fruit/juice

at lunch with a seving of meat. This helps absorption of iron. I dont give any

other minerals

until hours later. Zinc is best by itself also. Zinc can cause problems if the

dose is too high.

It also can take up to 6 months to get into normal range intracellularly ( sp )

How much is your son taking?

Stimming from iron supp?

Hi - we are having more issues. We are waiting for my 3 1/2 yr old son

to have appropriate amounts of zinc and iron prior to DMSA. We've

increased the zinc and added an iron supp which is a new supp. Since

doing this he has been putting everything in his mouth, hands down his

diaper constantly and stimming with his eyes, arms, hands, ect. His

stimming was down to hardly nothing - except the finger in the nose

haven't been able to break that one! Could this be related to the iron

supplement or something else? Thanks - Amber

Thanks for the info - yes he did have the ferritin test and was low - the

reference range was 10-105 ng/ml and he was 15.  He doesn't eat much meat except

for what I can puree in noodles.  Right now I'm giving the iron (only about

4.5mg right now - Dr wants us up to10mg) with multi, zinc, fish oil, candactive

and enzyme with lunch.  Do you think it's best to give alone with lunch?  I

think it might be the zinc causing most of our issues from yours and other

posts - although not a new addition to our routine per Dr. I'm giving about 20mg

at breakfeast, 20mg at lunch and there is a small amount of zinc in the multi,

too.  Thanks for the help - Amber

Increase the yeast protocol.

Be sure to give the iron with vitamin C, and away from other minerals

and away from rice.
