Guest guest
Try using knee tape when you do the VMO exercise, or any that pull your kneecap laterally or even proximally. See my post earlier today on how to use the tape. Using tape is the only way I can do the VMO exercises, hike father than 1/2 a mile without consequences, etc. The tape helps me tremendously. You may have to experiment to find the right positioning for your kneecap. Ann New member with questions. Hello, I am just starting to realize that my knee pain may be a problem. My right knee has been hurting mildly for about two years or more. Within the last year my pain has increased. I did go to the doctor and was shuffled out of the office with a diagnosis of Patellar Femoral Pain. I was told to do exercises (VMO and hip strenghthening), ice massages, and take ibprophen. I was also told that I could continue my many activities of volleyball, skiing, hiking, mt. biking etc... I did do the exercises on and off, but recently have been very good about doing them atleast once a day for the last month with leg weights. Because I have been favoring my right knee for so long, my quad muscle in my right leg is smaller than in my left. I am starting to get worried that I may be causing long term damage to my knee. Ok, here's the questions: 1. General advice on how to fix this...Should I just continue the exercises (I know I haven't been doing them that long consistantly). Should I return to the dr? Physical therapy? I've heard that going to a podiatrist may help if you foot is rotating. 2. Am I causing long term damage? From what I've written and I know it's not much...do you think it's reversable? 3. Do you know of any quad streghthening exercises that wouldn't agrevate my knee pain? Well, thanks in advance for reading this! If you need any more info let me know.

Guest guest
I would recommend 's book on Enzymes. That sounds like a great place to start for you. I think if you haven't tried going gluten free and dairy free, that would be worth a shot. Also getting on enzymes and a good probiotic might honestly improve your health so much. Eating whole foods, organic, simple, whole some basic foods without the dyes and preservatives, what we should all do. Staying away from articifical sweatners, soda. I would also highly recommend a good yeast protocol. Stay on the list, read, go back, read, tons to learn. Stick with us, and it will all make sense over time. Tammy New Member with questions. Hi, I am new here and I have a few questions. First of all I am 30 years old, female, and have high functioning autism. Second I am a college student in early childhood education, with a focus on special education and a strong desire to work directly with those with autism. Third I have spent most of my life undiagnosed with autism. I have; however, been diagnosed during certain stages of my childhood and teen years with many different psychiatric diagonosis', none of which covered all of my symptoms. Here are my questions: I have severe medical problems including: migraine headaches, status migranes - migranes lasting for more than five to seven days at a time, ovarian cysts, recurring yeast infections my whole life, kidney stones since I was 14, recurring bladder infections my whole life, toxic vitamin d levels, very high calcium levels, osteopenia, recurring adominal adhesions, scoliosis, irregular BM's, had an apedectomy when I was 18, a rare type of tubal pregnancy in 2005, as well as struggling with the usual autism emotional ups and downs. This is probably a short list, I have had a lot of medical problems. When I was very young I was diagnosed with a failure to thrive, growing very little from birth to 3 1/2 years of age. I lost a twin brother in utero, was lactose intolerant, and had a reflux condition. I also have been very thin most of my life, have very fine hair and nails, and did not reach an average height for my family. At eleven I only weighed 33 pounds. I am about 5'2 and getting shorter and the majority of my releatives are 5'8 and taller. I have always been a picky eater and my mother was afraid I would starve to death. I was a late talker and a toe walker. I am not currently on a special diet with the exception of exclusion of calcium and oxylate to avoid production of more kidney stones and the exclusion of dairy. Should I be on some sort of a diet that would aid in the resolution of my current medical problems? I have at least one major medical problem a year invloving surgical proceedures and the like. I do not take any kinds of psychiatic medications as the effects on me are more disabling. I am unable to function on them and the side effects for me are severe. However, every so often I do require the use of them due to high levels of anxiety leading to aggression, episodes of inappropriate emotional outbursts and panic attacks. Or what may more commonly be referred to as a " meltdown. " Some of my more prevalent behavioral issues I have today are: my talking at people with no recognition if they want to be in a conversation, inappropriate impulsive nature, anxiety issues, inapropriate attachment to one person - compulsive and possesive in nature to the point where he feels smothered most of the time, and the rare total meltdown. Should I have a psychiatric PRN in place and if so what? Are my medical problems related to my autism and if so, what can I do to treat them? Is there a special diet that will help me to be more in control and help to lesson the effects of my autism? Please advise. Guest guest
Have you ever been tested for Celiac or gluten intolerance? I agree that trying GF/CF may be a place to start, but if you've not been tested for Celiac/gluten intolerance (e.g., see Enterolab's site: www.enterolab.com), you might want to do this prior to starting a GF diet. Most Celiac testing must be done prior to removing gluten from the diet to be most accurate. Enterolab says their stool test can still be accurate if done within a few months of starting a GF diet but that it is best to test prior to initiating the diet. good luck to you - you will find a lot of support/info/resources/answers in this group! > > Hi, > > I am new here and I have a few questions. > > First of all I am 30 years old, female, and have high functioning > autism. > > Second I am a college student in early childhood education, with a > focus on special education and a strong desire to work directly with > those with autism. > > Third I have spent most of my life undiagnosed with autism. Guest guest
> I have severe medical problems including: migraine headaches, status > migranes - migranes lasting for more than five to seven days at a > time, My migraines were directly related to food intolerances and yeast overgrowth. Certain foods I had to remove from my diet, the rest were handled with HNI enzymes http://www.houstonni.com/ >>recurring yeast infections my whole life, I used biotin and GSE to control yeast. > kidney stones since I was 14, I have had kidney stones, caused by free floating calcium. I eliminated caffeine from my diet, and cleared the free floating calcium with IP6. Then I took magnesium, vitamin D, vitamin K, and lysine, which is what the body requires to properly absorb calcium. Once I did these things, many of my physical issues went away. >>have very > fine hair and nails, Biotin deficiency caused most of this problem here. Other things that have helped, are fish oil [with mito cocktail because my kids had mitochondrial dysfunction and did not properly absorb fats], B vitamins especially folic acid, and zinc. >> and did not reach an average height for my > family. This was amino acid deficiency here, primarily carnitine but other aminos have helped also. Plus, carnitine was required here for proper absorption of nutrients including fats, B vitamins, and vitamin C. >>compulsive and possesive in > nature to the point where he feels smothered most of the time, and > the rare total meltdown. At my house, this was caused by viruses [i used olive leaf extract, Virastop enzyme, vitamin C, and lysine to eliminate those, plus high dose vitamin A for measles virus], B vitamin deficiency, amino acid deficiency, and yeast overgrowth. And, all of the above deficiencies were caused by heavy metal toxicity, so I chelated my kids [and myself] with ALA. > Is there a special diet that will help me to be more in control and > help to lesson the effects of my autism? In my opinion, start with enzymes first, then rotate your foods to see if certain foods still cause problems, even with enzymes. Guest guest
Yes s Book is so great. I just love all her experiences and things she went through and the time it saves us all. > > I would recommend 's book on Enzymes. That sounds like a great place > to start for you.
