Hi Kat,

Welcome to our group!

>While discussing the diet with a friend, she says I don't have to

stay on this diet forever, but from what I understood by the article

is that this is the way i always have> to eat to not get candidas

again. I don't think I have it very badly, > I don't eat processed

foods or diary, but over Easter I ate a bunch of> candy for about a

week and suddenly got gassey and crampy.

==>You do not have to eat the candida diet after curing candida, but

it is such a healthy diet that it will keep your body healthy for

life, somewhat modified of course. You do need to maintain a healthy

diet to keep your immune system up to par so you do not get candida

overgrowth again. It sounds like you were eating fairly healthy

anyway. But even fruits without good fats are not healthy in large

quantities, and unsoaked grains, nuts, seeds and beans are very

damaging for anyone.

>>Looking over the list of foods I can eat, there isn't much on there

I can> tolerate. I can't eat a lot of meat due to the IBS and

problems with> digesting it, so I'm down to eggs and cabbage!

==>IBS is caused by candida overgrowth. This diet will help heal

your intestines and stop the spasms. Did you know that meats

and " good " fats are much easier to digest and do less harm to the

intestines than carbs? In order to overcome candida and IBS you will

need good meats. Do remember there is a lot of false information

about digestion of meats out there. The food industry makes lots of

money by selling their carbs. The fact is humans can be very healthy

on all meats and good fats, with no carbs, and health deteriorates

without them. A good balance of protein to fats to carbs is

described in the Optimal Diet - see the Files and Links. You can go

to www.fitday.com to calculate the grams contained in foods you eat.

==>Do ensure you have enough stomach acid. Most people with candida

and IBS require digestive enzymes, i.e. betaine hydrochloric acid

with pepsin. Digestion is also increased with good fats, i.e.

coconut oil, butter, lard, - all of the traditional fats - and also

by eating fermented drinks and foods, along with a good ocean sea

salt and lemon juice. I recommend having 1/4 tsp. Celtic sea salt

and the juice of 1/2 lemon in 6 0zs. of water 6 times a day, three

with meals to aid digestion and to provide electrolytes (Celtic sea

salt contains over 82 minerals). Having 1-2 tablespoons of

unpasteurized sauerkraut with meals also aids digestion.

>Good thing I like eggs and cabbage :o) Anyway, my main question is,

do I have to stay on this> diet forever or only until the candidas is

gone? Not even sure how to> tell when it's gone.

==>Eggs are excellent. If you are only going to eat eggs for your

protein source have at least 8 per day. There are drinks in our

recipes files you can make using raw eggs and coconut oil, which is

very healthy.

==>You can tell when the candida is under control when all of your

symptoms are gone, esp. IBS, but you should continue on the diet and

treatments for at least a month past that point.

>>I already got rid of the gas and cramps by> drinking fresh cabbage

juice. I've also been taking oregano oil for my > gut, so maybe that

has helped too?

==>The diet is the most important aspect of overcoming candida. The

oil of oregano is antifungal which kills candida. Good fats

described in my article are very important for health, along with the

essentials fatty acids and oil soluble vitamins, i.e. cod liver oil

for Omega-3, Vits. A & D in the winter, and fish oil for Omega-3 in

the summer. You could make cabbage rejuvelac to get the probiotics

you need - in my main article.

>>This is quite confusing! I only> hope I can straighten it out so I

can go back to eating normally> again...and NEVER eat candy again!!!

==>That depends upon what you mean by " eating normally " . There are

no quick fixes for getting rid of candida or overcoming your IBS. It

takes time and patience. You want to work with your body so it can

do its job, which is to heal and keep you healthy. But you need to

give it the nutrients it needs to do its job properly.

I wish you the best Kat. Do keep in touch and let us know how you

are doing. We are here to help you.

The best in health,

Bee

Where does one get fresh cabbage juice?? I don't know if I can drink

because allergist said I am allergic to cabbage. However he said I

was allergic to other things that I have been able to tolerate so I

could try it.

Bee,

Why does unpasteurized sauerkraut help with digestion. I love

sauerkraut. Does it contain probiotics, lactobacillus type??

Dear Barb,

You would juice the cabbage yourself.

Hi, I'm new to the group. I am Tracey and I believe my daughter has PDD-NOS

but we do not have an official diagnosis yet. We go for further testing on

March 31. I have a question for the group. She has some very foul smelling

stools and I put her on a probiotic. It seems to have helped her become

more regular but the stool still has an odor. Does this mean I need a

stronger probiotic? I am using a nature's way probiotic powder currently.

It is one the health store recommended. Thanks for any replies or

information regarding this subject.

Try doubling the dose, give her the regular dose 2x per day, see if

that helps.
