Guest guest
Sounds like a lot to me. Maybe you need something stronger or separate supplements to target specific foods instead of a broad spectrum enzyme? Do you know which foods cause the reactions? I'm sure , Dana or Alessandra will have some good advice for you. Dana C. -------------- Original message -------------- From: " " <jenn-miller@...> Um...isn't that a LOT??!! I started out with one cap and worked up to 7 quickly. My daughter started at 1/2 and quickly worked up to 4. Neither of us had any negative reactions. Our symptoms returned on day 10 (she gets bumpy rash on upper arms, red cheeks and chin, bloating, constipation, sinus congestion and irritablity. I get bloating, psoriasis flare-up, constipation, headaches, sinus congestion, and irritability). Last night I took 10 caps with dinner and saw much improvement. Kate took 5 and saw much improvement in all symptoms. This morning, I upped dose again (me 11 and Kate 6) and saw more improvement but symptoms still aren't gone. I'm going to take 12 with lunch and give Kate 7. THAT'S A WHOLE LOT OF ENZYMES!! Has anyone else ever taken this many? Plus, I have to be taking way more protease enzymes than I'm using to digest my food so should I be taking Virastop with Candidase between meals as well to help get rid of the candida? I'm only on day 13 of this enzyme trial and am quickly watching my bank account dwindle away, but I'm very, very happy to stick with this if it's the right course of action. Am I on the right track? Am I on the right track? This sounds like you need to use a specialty enzyme that contains more activity for the foods you don't tolerate. Which high protease enzyme are you using in addition to the DG? Dana
Guest guest
It's by Enzymedica. I've looked all over the place to find something that has equivalent amounts of everything it has, or everything but the proteases and I can't find anything. What's going on with us? Also, I've been having headaches constantly, and the rashes that I've always had that were going away in the first few days of treatment are back. Do I need to adjust my dose again or consider it part of a die-off reaction and wait it out? Thanks so much for your help, everyone! Do I need to adjust my dose again or consider it part of a die-off reaction and wait it out? You might not tolerate an ingredient of the enzyme. Does it contain papain/bromelain? Those two are commonly not tolerated. Dana
Guest guest
Hi I work for Enzymedica's education department. I have not heard of someone having to take that many capsules with one meal. Digest Gold does not contain any bromelain and papain so I would not be concerned with that. I'm not aware of a broad spectrum digestive enzyme that is more potent or stronger than Digest Gold either. But if you know specifically what foods are causing the problems for you and your daughter, maybe we can figure out which enzyme product you should take. For instance although Digest Gold has amounts of everything, a product like Lypo Gold has higher amounts of Lipase than Digest Gold does. So if you had trouble digesting fats I would go with the Lypo Gold. Do you know what foods are specifically causing you trouble? Guest guest
Allesandra and Dana, thanks for your helpful replies. We really do react to EVERYTHING we eat! I am a vegetarian, but my daughter is not. What I find interesting is that the food we eat doesn't have to be in our bodies for more than 15 minutes or so for us to have a reaction, that is IF we haven't taken enough enzymes. If we've had enough before the food goes in we don't have any problems. I've decided to go on a raw blended diet with just a few Digest Gold caps with each meal for a month to give my GI a rest. I've been doing it for about 24 hours now with no adverse reactions to the lower dose of enzymes. My daughter won't do all blended foods, so she's now up to 10 caps with meals. If I don't give her 10, the rash on her arms comes back and she gets really aggressive, angry, and bloated. I've just finished reading Tom Bohager's book " Enzymes: What The Experts Know " and am a bit more confused about what theraputic protocol we should be on. Should we do a virastop/candidase combo between meals to get rid of pathogens and the candida that I know we have? Should we start what he calls a " soothing Digestive formula " (ie: no protease, high amalase/lipase/cellulase and herbs like marshmallow root) for our obvious malabsorption problem? Can we do them both at the same time? What about anti-inflamatory enzymes like papain and Bromelain? Where do I start? Thanks so much to everyone for all your help! One thing you might consider. There were a few foods that enzymes did not address for my son, he did not tolerate those foods for reasons *other* than digestion. So if you are eating foods that the enzymes really are not addressing for you, you might find temporary relief from taking a LOT of enzymes, but the underlying problem is not being addressed. For other foods, I needed apple cider vinegar for proper digestion. > I've just finished reading Tom Bohager's book " Enzymes: What The > Experts Know " and am a bit more confused about what theraputic > protocol we should be on. Should we do a virastop/candidase combo > between meals to get rid of pathogens and the candida that I know we > have? Eliminating Candida can be helpful. I used biotin and GSE. Candidase was also helpful, altho biotin addressed one of my son's underlying problems. >>What about anti-inflamatory enzymes like > papain and Bromelain? Some people do much better with papain/bromelain, and others have problems with those products. So you can experiment if you want, see how you react. Guest guest
Hi Jenn Sorry for the LONG post. I've spoken to Dave in our technical department about your situation. He does a lot of speeches and trainings so he is very knowledgeable. If it is at all possible I recommend you calling him. He had a bunch of questions that I thought could easier be answered if the two of you talked. If this is not possible I DO NOT mind talking through the group. It just takes more time for you to get an answer. We both found it CRAZY that you were up to 12 Digest Gold with each meal. That many should not be needed. That's why he had so many questions. As for you other questions: Should we do a virastop/candidase combo between meals to get rid of pathogens and the candida that I know we have? -Yes. On an empty stomach, either 30 minutes before a meal or 2 hours after a meal. Should we start what he calls a " soothing Digestive formula " - Well there's ACID SOOTHE- take 2 after every meal- helps with acid reflux symptoms. -But to take Acid Soothe or something like Lacto as a digestive enzyme- it would not be potent enough. But you could try taking 2 Acid Soothe after every meal or whenever you feel discomfort. Can we do them both at the same time? - Each bottle will tell you when to take the products. But you can take the Therapeutic enzymes at the same time (on an empty stomach) What is the difference between " therapeutic " and " digestive " enzymes? - Simply put, digestive enzymes are taken with food. Therapeutic enzymes could be the exact same enzyme but taken away from food (30 minutes before or 2 hours after a meal) so that they are utilized in different ways. Therapeutic enzymes work systemically in the body. What about anti-inflamatory enzymes like papain and Bromelain? - We make two great products for that. Repair Gold & Serra Gold. Repair Gold is recommended to help speed the recovery of sore muscles due to overexertion or damage. SerraGold is recommended for those that suffer from discomfort, swelling and stiffness. Both may be taken together in severe cases. I hope this email helps. You can reach Dave @ 888-918-1118 If you would like to join our automatic shipping program, you receive free shipping with each order and a free gift with your first order. Automatic shipping is according to how often you need the products. But I figured with how fast you are going through the bottles, it might be very convenient for you. Just let me know.
