Guest guest
We had tremendous improvement with enzymes alone, obvious from the 3rd day. We've never done the diet, although I do use things I've learned here to encourage healthier choices. My dd was much more open to trying new foods after she had been on the enzymes for a few months. She also lost her buddha-belly and her appetite normalized. All headaches and stomach-aches disappeared almost immediately. We did have 3 weeks of stimminess, which was well worth it. She gained eye contact, and noticeable improvement in her willingness to interact verbally and even initiate interaction. She self-reported auditory improvement, as well. ( " Mom, I can hear what you're saying better. " ) Enzymes were life-changing for us. Darla [sPAM] Starting Enzymes with my son Hi I have a 5 year old with autism. Some of the major problems I have with him are that he doesn't have much langauge, a very picky eater and very stubborn. I haven't put him on the GFCF diet because I am scared that he is going to starve himself. Yes he is that stubborn. I was reading about the enzymes tonight and I have never heard of it before. Can I start him on enzymes without putting him on the diet?
Guest guest
Hi I wanted to do the same thing for my son. When I approached our DAN doctor about this he said that with time *maybe* using enzymes can help introduce forbidden foods BUT the gut needs to heal FIRST...he then told me we should test for food sensitivity with the IG test ( 95 common foods allergies) and start the diet - I was so sure that our son would HATE the GFCF diet because he had a *vomit* response to everything new (food) But you know what...I went for it! and started GFCF diet in January this year and have never looked back. * his vomitting stopped! HOORAY *he is eating more foods ---- FRUITS & veggies!! * he is SLEEPING the night now ( he would wake 3-4 times a night and sometimes be up for good at 3am!!!!!!!! My heartfelt advise to you -research the diet - and go slow - start with one thing that he *might* like add some more and take away the others as you start to replace foods. I found the Talking About Curing autsim website very helpful - they even have a 10 week plan to start the diet I used it and got many many other tips there! hope this helps you take care Starting Enzymes with my son Hi I have a 5 year old with autism. My son's gut did not heal until I started digestive enzymes, added back a few foods, and chelated the metals out with ALA. Dana
Guest guest
Hi Dana can you tell me what ALA is? Can you also tell me the enzymes that you used? When I approached the DAN Doctor about using enzymes he said *don't go there!* But I think that maybe it might be better to add new foods with enzymes. let me know Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Has anyone out there had this reaction..... My son had 2 cookies.... after I read the package I noticed that they had butter in them. So I gave him: 1 AFP Houston chewable enzyme After wards ( 3 hours later ) He started to have some BM's ( I know that this can happen ) but he started to get a very bad rash on his bum ( all around in sorry * anus *) just like if he had his diaper on for too long. In total he had 4 very small BM's yesterday and his bum is very sore. Could the enzyme be causing this? Is it possible that some of the enzymes are not getting absorbed and coming out the other end....causing irritation to the skin? If your child does not tolerate milk, I would first suspect this reaction was caused by the butter. > 1 AFP Houston chewable enzyme > After wards ( 3 hours later ) An enzyme three hours after the infraction will not be effective. Try giving Pepcid AC or activated charcoal. Dana
Guest guest
Hi Dana I gave the enzymes right after the cookies. The reaction happened 3 hrs after eating cookies & enzymes. Sorry for not explaining better. He had the same reaction to Candex ( fighting yeast enzymes ). Major diaper rash! I guess our concern is the diaper rash....would you have any idea where that would come from? Enzymes?? thanks Dana Re: Starting Enzymes with my son > My son had 2 cookies.... after I read the package I noticed that they had butter in them. From the cookies, might have been overgrowth spilling out. From the Candex, die off spilling out. Try giving biotin or other yeast control, see if that helps.
