Guest guest
We decided to start our 6 year old on carnitine, lipoic acid and CoQ10 now that we and our son's doctor are pretty sure he has mitochondrial dysfunction. He is getting 300 mg of acetyl-l-carnitine, 75 mg of the lipoic acid and 30 mg of CoQ10 twice per day. Since we started it almost three weeks ago we've seen some really neat gains. Our son jumped up two levels in his reading at school, his focus is better and he can sit down and complete a craft or play for extended periods on a Nintendo DS. However, this week at school he's had a change in personality such that he now is getting rough with his classmates and has become defiant. He's never been like this before. He's also now not sleeping as well. He seems to get up a couple of times a night where he used to sleep right on through. He gets 5 ml of cod liver oil each day along with a probiotic and Kirkman's Super Nu Thera. Are we missing some complementary supplements? Any thoughts? Thank you very much in advance for any help.
