Guest guest
Food allergies did that to us. Always happens at night while the body is at rest. This would appear to others as asthma. Inflammation, anyway. I bet you give Benadryl, it might stop. I'm coming from this from a parent with a nt child with food allergies. I also treated my son for asthma for years and would hit the flovent if not on it first. If really a bad cough, albuterol. If that didn't cut it, Benadryl usually did. When things were really bad, allergic reaction, we had prednisone. I think I've hit that twice in his life, 7.6, but always a back up encase issues. We've added on to the list, like cranberry and alovera and Benadryl was fine. Always was in the middle of the night when issues hit! Tammy coughing? My little guy is waking up coughing every night, but isn't coughing at all during the day. Through the night it's persistant and dry hacking. I'm not sure what to make of it. Any ideas? Guest guest
Thanks Tammy. I'll give Benedryl a shot. He's been completely off since Saturday making me think he got something he shouldn't have on Friday (gluten is the prime suspect since he's having pee accidents - a clear sign of a glutening for him). Maybe he's actually allergic to it too. Guest guest
That's totally seasonal allergies. Me and all three of my kids get it. I just pop a Calratin ready tab and it goes away in a few minutes. My son has to take Singulair...which can also help with inflammation. My daughter takes Allegra. Once the blooming season is over they don't need it anymore
Guest guest
The seasonal thing could be it too. Claritin is over the counter and a great product. My son did fine on it but we figured out it didn't have seasonal, or maybe did, but does fine today. We did singulair for years, maybe 3. I don't know if you remember seeing in the media a while back, thoughts of suicide and issue with singulair. So stay away if you can. I didn't notice any issues with my guy and he was taking the chewable maybe from age 2-5. Again, nt so if dealing with a child on the spectrum, hard to tell. Zyrtech is another good allergy med, we never used. Good luck, hope you figure it out! Guest guest
nope not seasonal, we had same issue over the winter, cleared , and then in February started going downhill again. Guest guest
For me personally, I had this problem and thought for sure it was allergies. I went to the allergist and after much testing, he told me I did not have allergies. Said it was asthma and gave me treatments for it. Both maintenance and rescue inhalers. It was the best thing that ever happened to me! For the first time in years I was able to get a full night's rest without coughing! I also had no idea how shallow I was breathing. Taking the asthma drugs was like taking a brick off my chest! I could finally breath!
