Hi,

My NT daughter always had reddish/purplish rings under her eyes starting at

about 4-5 months of age (when we started infant formula).  This continued for

months.  She did not have a gray face but it was more pale/yellowish.  Since we

were giving our son lots of supplements to help ASD symptoms we thought our

daughter also had dysbiosis.  So we started giving her probiotics, biotin and

cod liver oil at ~12 months and she no longer has red/purple eyes and she looks

and acts so much better.  We recently stopped biotin for a couple weeks and the

reddish/purple eyes and yellowish color came back again.  Since starting biotin

again it went away again.

Have you tried biotin?

I have been going crazy trying to figure out why my son's complexion

is grey. He looks so sick. He has dark red circles around his eyes as well.

Besides his " death " looking complexion he is doing great. This complexion thing

seems to start in late October and run right through the winter months. Spring

is around the corner and I am hoping that some sun will help. Does anyone have

any ideas? I know his Vit D is with in the low end of the reference range and it

is being addressed. He does not seem to have obvious symptoms of seasonal

allergies but we have started Singulair and it seems to be helping a bit. I know

that he has really bad gut dysbiosis and I have been working on healing his gut

for years. I wish I knew what was going on. He really does look sick. We just

got back his blood ammonia and it is elevated. We started using charcoal once a

day to help with that. Our DAN gave us a script for lactulose to bring down his

ammonia. Has anyone

tried this with success and no side effects? Could the ammonia be causing the

grey skin color? I would love any suggestions or advice.

TIA,

Dayna

He looks so sick. He has dark red circles around his eyes as well.

For dark circles that are purple-red in color, that was caused by phenol and

other food issues here. If it was bright red under one eye, that was caused by

giving certain supplements without carnitine.

Enzymes and biotin [or probiotics] were very helpful for this issue here.

Ammonia can be caused by improper protein digestion and bad bacteria overgrowth.

Elevated ammonia can also be from the liver being overtaxed. Butyrate is

supposed to be really good at bringing down ammonia. Ghee and butter are the

only two food sources, if your child can have either. I call ghee/butter

" cooperation food " because ammonia can lead to obstinate and generally not being

very cooperative. Both bytyrate and biotin are produced by good bacteria in the

gut so maybe really working on getting the gut dysbiosis back in balance. Also,

maybe making sire that you've gotten all the food issues under control. My son

gets the purple-red circles from amines.

My daughter's complexion was grey back in the days before I knew anything about

biomedical interventions. Once we got yeast problems under control, her

complexion started to look much better.
