Guest guest
I only heard that it is expensive and not really worth the $. This was the opinion of a presenter at a workshop in NJ.  From: Daisygirl <daisygirl12us@...> Subject: RE: Son-Rise Program Date: Tuesday, March 31, 2009, 3:22 PM Does anyone know anything about the Son-Rise Program? Guest guest
Hi Daisy, Enzymedica and the Autism Treatment Center of America (home of the Son-Rise Program) have come together to bring an understanding of autism and a message of hope to communities across America. Raun K. Kaufman, who recovered from severe autism, will giving the lecture entitled: " Autism: Recovery Is Possible – 2 Hours That Will Change Your Child's Life – The Autism Hope Action Plan " ) is part of a nationwide Autism Grass Roots Tour. It will feature Kaufman's amazing story of recovery as well as autism expert Selby , the Director of Autism Education for Enzymedica, who is also the mother of a son with autism. The lecture is the first of its kind – specific tools for parents that combine educational strategies with biological interventions to address the whole child. It is also the first of its kind in that it features a man who recovered from autism himself and a mother who is on the frontlines of autism with her own son. Scholarships for Families The nationwide lecture tour is sponsored by the Autism Hope Alliance, a foundation created by Enzymedica, a leading enzyme supplement company, to raise funds for autism awareness and treatment. This newly created foundation unites manufacturers, distributors and retailers within the natural products community to support families with children challenged by autism. In addition to sponsoring the lecture tour, the Autism Hope Alliance is donating 100 full scholarships nationwide for parents to attend the Start-Up program, a 5-day parent training course at the Autism Treatment Center of America™. Attendees of the lectures will be given the opportunity to apply for these scholarships, valued at $2200 each. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based upon financial need. Admission is free. Online registration available at: www.AutismNationwide.org. Attendees will receive information kits on autism and scholarship applications. Please feel free to ask me any questions regarding the Autism Grass Roots Tour! Guest guest
It is VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!!! They are very nice there. But if you have an older child who won't go in the " play " room to do the program and you have no one to help you with the program and support you, it is practically impossible to implement it. Guest guest
Thanks Alessandra I've seen Raun Kaufman speak and he is very impressive. I'm actually just wondering if Son-Rise works. We are desperate because our son is not improving, on the contrary his CARS scores are worse now than 2 years ago and he went from being classified moderately autistic to severe. Even though he's had 2 years of ABA, GFCG and countless biomedical and other interventions. He will be 5 next month and we are frightened out of our wits, afraid of the window closing. It's hard to know where to invest the time or if there's any hope at all. Daisy
Guest guest
Sonrise seems to be a good program. we have done 'rdi' w/o a consultant and sonrise is similar...but not quite the same. RDI and I think sonrise.. focus on the fact that there is a 'window'.. but the brain continues to be flexible. I know a 18 yo who does RDI (child 18 yo)..didn't start till a year ago- and has seen tremendous progress. I'm not saying do RDI... i don't do it formally myself. but sonrise i think is a good program and they embrace biomed in conjunction w/ their therapy.. other thearpies do not. Guest guest
Hi Daisy, I'm not sure what state you live in but visit Autismnationwide.org and see when the Autism Grass Roots Tour will be in your area. If nothing else, you will walk out of there with HOPE. I feel like that's what some parents just need. It is a truly inspirational lecture. Selby will also be speaking there. She has a 6 year old little boy. Maybe after the lecture, you can decide if the Son-Rise program is right for you. Parents, friends, and family leave the lecture feeling rejuvenated. Please feel free to ask me any questions. I hope this information helps!
