I am confused. My son seems to have problems that might be helped by omega 3

supplementation but I don't know what to buy. I have seen oils that are just cod

liver oil, some like from ChildLife that have Omega 3/6/9 and others that say

EFA/DHA. I probably shouldn't be confused but I am. Does anybody else out there

have a little one with agression/behavior issues maybe ADHD that are using these

oils? If so, what do you use? I don't know whether to think he's getting enough

omega 6s and just supplement with omega 3 or what. Plus, is cod liver oil just

omega 3?

Please help. Also, my son is 2 and I want to use a liquid as I've tried the

chewable capsules before and he hates them.

Venalda,

My daughter is ADHD/PDD-NOS (3 1/2 yrs old). My husband did our research and we

found that the best recommended balance to address the ADHD was 4:1 EPA/DHA.

The one that comes with the highest recommendation is Nordic Naturals EPA (2

gelcaps = 1000mg). We've now switched over to Carlson brand EPA Gems, which has

approximately the same ratio at about half the price. We have seen tremendous

improvements with my daughter's ability to focus & remain calm/follow

instructions/etc. Over the Christmas break I dropped her back to 1 gelcap for 2

weeks and she was nuts again by January, so I moved her back up.

I squeeze it into a small cup of Orange Juice each morning -- Vitamin C is also

very good for the absorption. When we started it took about a month to start

seeing results, but when I dropped back it only took two weeks to get her back

on track.

It does not necessarily work this well for everyone, but it is certainly worth a

try for the Attention part of this equation. They're much more receptive to

training if they're calm enough & focused enough to make sense of you.
