Guest guest
I find a super hot wash cloth on the boil will bring it to a head. It has to be just about too hot to touch, but amazingly doesn't burn - actually feels good on the boil. Keep it hot and very gently, the puss will burst out on its own. Bum boils have to be the most painful, I think. Sorry you're all dealing with it. Guest guest
My son went through that in September and October. After seeing 2 doctors and a dermatologist, it turned out it was MRSA. What helped was a topical cream called bactroban. Now, anytime we see a bump that looks like a pimple, we put a little cream on it " just in case " and we have not had another problem. However, it took us almost two months to get a diagnosis. Most of that time my son was out of school (he is 7). Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Maya, For us, Boils meant either a virus or allergies. So when my daughter gets a boil, I do the antiviral protocol using Virastop and Lysine. My daughter would get them on her bottom and to help it decrease in size, I would put peroxide on it then break open a capsule of Activated Charcoal and spread it on the Boil which helped decrease the size of the boil. When she gets a boil, I would also check and see if I need to increase what I am giving her for immune support. Also, I would soak my daughter in a worm bath with some Epsom Salt. Our first year on GFCF, my daughter did not get one Boil but as soon as I went off, she started getting boils again. After researching, I found that food allergies can cause Boils also. S. Guest guest
To piggy back on what said (she stirred up a memory), my daughter was tested via her nose by a specialist and we were told she had MRSA and that she had to bathe in a capful of bleach for 10 days. Now, our pediatrician looked at the boils on her butt and said it was caused by HPV. So, I'm still trying to figure out which is which or if it is both; either way, this is why we did the antiviral protocol. S. Guest guest
My son had a boil on his bum once too. I just put warm compresses on it and let him soak in the tub. I know there is a homeopathy remedy for it too. ask at your HFS. but definitely don't bother to go to the doctor. I did that b/c I had no idea what it was and she gave me a RX for abx even though I told her I only wanted it if it was absolutely necessary. Filled it and then read online that really abx was useless.. I was really upset. so threw the RX away, was miffed over the wasted time and money..and took care of the boil naturally. Guest guest
From what I know, boils are caused by Staph bacteria and MRSA is a Staph infection but basically a superbug, so most antibiotics will not work with it. You would need to go the natural route and rotate them so that the bacteria does not become resistant - things that could help include salt, barberry, oregon grape, garlic, colloidal silver, etc. From: mywonderbaby <mywonderbaby> Subject: [ ] URGENT: Please help: Boils Date: Monday, January 5, 2009, 11:12 PM My 2 year old has a big boil surfacing from under his skin in the bum area on his buttocks closer to anus. Guest guest
I know my son went through the same thing last year he had one right at the bottom of his spine above his butt. turns out it was a staph infection. MRSA. It required 2 separate kinds of antibiotics to get rid of it and it was a pain becuase the antibiotics made his yeast flare up. I would definitely take him to a doctor. > > My 2 year old has a big boil surfacing from under his skin in the bum > area on his buttocks closer to anus. Guest guest
I had a really gross staph infection on my nipples 6 months into nursing my son (can I say really gross, looked like my nipple was peeling away, looked like the flesh eating disease). I went on 3 different antibiotics but the bacteria was resistant to it all and I ended up using a lot of salt baths, that helped the most, and I also ate a lot of garlic and olive leaf internally and made some barberry compresses. Try the antibiotics and if they don't work you'll have to go the natural route. Guest guest
Oh yes, also drank a lot of colloidal silver internally - not sure how that interacts with mercury though so maybe not a good idea? Colloidal silver works very well though, especially if you alternate with a lot of garlic (fresh pressed garlic right on food - like 15 cloves a day). Works really well for mastitis too. Guest guest
From what I know it is used mainly in the treatment of parasites (like ozonated oil) but it could work for viruses I'm sure. I'd go for oil of oregano for virus and fungal infections though - tastes nasty but really works when given early, especially if you repeat the dosage (for kids about 2-3 drops, 3x/day for babies a little rubbed on the feet and for adults about 15 drops 3x/day) and then supplement with a lot of probiotics about 2 hours away from the oil of oregano. Oxygen treatments tend to give people the runs too so I'd be weary of that. Guest guest
I think garlic is a high sulfur food though so you might not be able to use it if your son has an intolerance to high sulfur foods. But maybe anicillin (the antibacterial component of garlic that is isolated in supplement form) though from what I read it is not as effective as fresh garlic. Guest guest
Poor little guy! When my guy had a boil on his bum he was also around 2. They are a bacterial infection that begin deep in a hair follicle or a sebaceous gland.I treated it naturally with: Supplements Vit c (anti-inflammatory) Zinc (helps heal skin tissue) Oil of oregano ( to fight the infection) Topical Oregon Grape (mahonia aquifolium) apply a tincture a few times a day to help clean the boil and help with the infection. Ginger Tea compress- grate some fresh root ginger into some boiling water and allow it to steep for 10 min. soak a cotton cloth with the tea and apply once cooledbut still very warm. You can try to keep it on for up to half an hour. Good Luck! Guest guest
You know, I didn't even mention that in my original response because when my son was dealing with that, all I wanted to do was fix the symptoms and the cause was almost an after thought. (My son was in so much pain he couldn't even put on pants!!!!) We believe that the original cause of the boils was red dye and that the problem took off from there. Once the boil (which is a staph infection) opens, the infection can spread. My son does not wear band aids. But you are right, the problem didn't totally go away until we removed the red dye from his diet. Guest guest
If it is really MRSA, colloidal silver can impact it as well. It can be used topically if you prefer to steer clear of internal use and Sovereign Silver (reputable brand) even makes a topical gel. http://www.natural-immunogenics.com/product_detail.php?ProductID=12 Staph on the rear is actually pretty common. My friend's daughter had it this fall and they did give her a topical antibiotic cream that clesred it up. Remember that not all staph is actually resistant (MRSA). www.leadingorganicskincare.com Certified Organic Products for the Whole Family
