Guest guest
Hi all, Last week my 17 y/o daughter started out with some puss filled scabs on her chin that itched. Over the past week it has spread to her eyes and forehead. She has been away at a basketball camp, and we plan on seeing the doctor tomorrow. Earlier today (when she returned from her trip) we bought some cortizone cream (at the suggestion of a pharmacist). It helped at first. That was this afternoon. We just got back from the grocery store and happened to run into a nurse from the ped's office. She thinks it could be impetigo. I have a cabinet of natural things.. gse, oregano oil, ole.. what can I give her right now? Thanks!
Guest guest
My guess is that OLE would do the trick. Impetigo is bacterial, and OLE gets rid of bacteria nicely. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi , Sorry, I can't help with the naturals, but if it is impetigo, it should respond to OTC triple antibiotic ointment (Neomycin, etc). It could also be a staph/MRSA infection, so it's good that you're seeing a doctor. > > Hi all, > Last week my 17 y/o daughter started out with some puss filled scabs on her chin that itched. Guest guest
Wash and pat Dry with soapy water. Discontinue Cortisone, as that will make it worse. Use a Polysporin Antibiotic ointment and do not bandage. (Do this 3 x day. It is contagious, so wash her sheets and pillowcases along with any washcloths and towels she has used or laid her face on. Make sure you use antibacterial wipes for any phone she may have used because that is the easiest way to spread.) And wash your hands with soap and water (hers too) frequently. It should disappear in a week. > > Hi all, > Last week my 17 y/o daughter started out with some puss filled scabs on her chin that itched. Over the past week it has spread to her eyes and forehead. Guest guest
, Was your child ever vaccinated with the varicella vaccine? If so, it could be shingles. If it continues to spread it could be this or it could be staph. My son gets staph (or some other radiating bacteria) any time he gets bitten by an insect. It is good you are going to the doctors. Are the areas painful? With shingles comes a lot of pain. So if it is not very painful, you may have dodged that bullet. My husband has gone through this three times! It starts on his forehead and moves toward his eyes, but so far we have been able to get it under control. Sometimes it can be caused by coming in contact with poison ivy. I know a couple of people who get it even if the wind blows it on them or they touch an animal who has touched it. I knew one who even had it get in her bloodstream. It could be one of these and impetigo as a secondary, as well. I'm not a doctor, but any time you have something that has spread, it is best to see a knowledgeable doctor.
