Guest guest
Dear listers, I saw a recent thread about anxiety on this list, and it fit my son to a t. I have an 11 year old son with autism. Every few weeks he will have a day or 1/2 a day where he completely melts down. Biggest thing is separation anxiety from his Dad who is at work. The smallest thing during these times makes him have a huge meltdown. He is more stringent to an impossible routine during these times. (no noticable tics however) Yet the same scenario on a different day causes him no problems at all. I've found no correlation with food. Tonight was another night for a huge meltdown, yet 2 nights ago, he was as happy and flexible, trying new things, helping out a really good night. Has had these scenarios although not as pronounced for years. 2nd grade he could not remember something from one day to the next, yet third grade he did great, now fourth grade with increasing anxiety issues he isn't able to concentrate as well, and has gone backwards in some areas of academics. I toyed with the idea it could be yeast, but the usual treatment of no phenol even the smallest amount seems to give him a stomach ache. was treated with flagyl for bacterial infection in december, not sure if that has to do with anything. Does this sound like Pandas? Would a pediatrician be able to do the strep test, or should I only go to a DAN doctor? Thanks, Missy missyjroy@... On another list, anxiety was related to adrenal stress. >>He is more stringent to an impossible routine during these times. (no noticable tics however) At my house, OCD was eliminated with anti-fungals, anti-virals, and B12. > I toyed with the idea it could be yeast, but the usual treatment of no phenol even the smallest amount seems to give him a stomach ache. was treated with flagyl for bacterial infection in december, not sure if that has to do with anything. The Flagyl might have caused a yeast issue. Try giving something like GSE or OoO or biotin, see if that helps. > Does this sound like Pandas? Maybe, but the cyclical pattern is not typical. You can try giving OLE, which eliminated strep bacteria here. See if that helps. Dana
Guest guest
Thanks for the info Dana! Is one product more " gentle " to take care of yeast than another? I used to be able to give no phenol, but now even a little sprinkle causes a huge stomachache. Is GSE or OoO more gentle or another product out there considered gentle? He also has phenol issues too Thanks, missy missyjroy@... > > I saw a recent thread about anxiety on this list, and it fit my son to a t. > > > On another list, anxiety was related to adrenal stress. > > > >>He is more stringent to an impossible routine during these times. Guest guest
> Thanks for the info Dana! > Is one product more " gentle " to take care of yeast than another? It really depends on the person. Probiotics [without strep strains] and biotin seem to be the " gentlest " , but Candidase was not bad here. >>I used to be able to give no phenol, but now even a little sprinkle causes a huge stomachache. Is GSE or OoO more gentle or another product out there considered gentle? He also has phenol issues too GSE is the strongest anti-fungal I have ever used. The benefit at my house anyway, is that there were no die off symptoms, we just improved. With some of the other things, sometimes we had negative die off symptoms. The stomachache you report, might be a die off symptom. OoO was not as strong as GSE, but it also addresses bad bacteria, so might be a better option for you. Both GSE and OoO are high phenol. Guest guest
Hi, My 10 yr old has battled PANDAS for a year now. What your son has doesn't seem like symptoms of PANDAS, but some of what you describe sounds like what my daughter has as a " leftover " . She has this 24 hours a day, not in spells though. She also tested positive for 25 foods - anything she ate gave her problems. For anxiety, our DAN! gave her, to reduce OCD, anxiety and general panic attacks: Taurine (dopamine antagonist) Theanine (dopamine antagonist) Benadryl - has an anti-anxiety effect immediately (within minutes) GABA (dopamine antagonist) Inositol (OCD) Cod Liver Oil I added in: Oil of Oregano GSE for a week only Gillhams Calm Magnesium Lee Silsby vitamins Enzymes Specific Carb Diet All these have helped to heal her leaky gut, manage the anxieties while she's healing, and also done general brain clean up as far as I'm concerned. She still has a long way to go, but is much better now. I think Dana is right, a lot of yeast can wreck havoc with the neurotransmitters, becasue so much of it has to start in the gut. Hope this helps, Susi
