Guest guest
Darlene ~~ Best of luck to you on your visit on Tuesday. This must be another step in seeing whether you will be accepted into the Trials program. Good luck on the biopsy and let's hope that the disease will not have progressed very far from 1999. My prayers are with you. Keep us posted, Darlene wrote: Hello Why does it take always take so long to do all the testing etc.. I have an interview for the Clinical HCV Study Program this Tuesday. They will be doing another liver biopsy since the first was done on 03/30/99. I read my biopsy and it stated moderate fibrosis with swelling cells. Fibrosis tissue found at the portal were near point to point. Love and Hugs to all and their pets. M B wrote: Hi Folks... When I went to the Hep C Specialty Clinic last month they told me that even though my liver enzymes were normal, they wanted to recheck them in 6 months and then in 6 months again. Then if they were still normal to check them every year. Well, the doc must have changed his mind. I got a call from the nurse saying the doc had written an order for a liver enzyme check now, in 2 months and again in 4 months. So I went in on Friday for the recheck. Now it's just the waiting game to see what the results are going to be like. I was hoping to do the liver biopsy in September but now I'm not sure if I will be able to do it then. I changed jobs and so far am not getting as many hours as I was getting with the other job. There is the potential that more hours may come in but time will tell. I hate it that my health has to depend so much on finances but I have Medicare and the co-pay is about $100 and I already owe them $45 for the abdominal ultrasound that I still have to pay. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what my hours look like. Thanks for listening.
Guest guest
Jan ~~ Thanks for your kindness and support. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long for the biopsy. I appreciate you all being here. It was a great day when I found y'all. I hope your husband gets to be working for quite awhile. My best friend's husband does offshore oil rigging but has been working on land rigs lately to stay busy. That industry has been hard hit be the current economy for sure. It's tough all the way around when they're out of work. Aside from the $$s aspect, they both get antsy when he's around the house for too long. Here's to a long work assignment, Jannewilms43@... wrote: talk anytime about whatever you need to..We all go through the finance problems..Trust me my husband hasn't found work in 4 weeks..PTL he went offshore last night..Now for how long yet we don't know..So myself like many others do understand what you are going through..I wish you luck.. Guest guest
Sharon ~~ Yeah they did in May. It was 3.7 mil which I have been told it quite high. They don't plan to check it again until they are getting me ready for treatment. They stated that since it is somewhat volatile numbers that fluctuate frequently, routine testing is of little value unless you need a base line to determine when there is a 2 log drop in the viral load after 3 months of treatment to see if the treatment is being successful. This is how it's been explained to me. So I don't expect that they will be retesting viral load any time soon. What might inspire them to do so is if the liver enzymes begin to increase out of normal range and repeatedly get higher on each retesting. But with the viral load at a high reading they obviously felt a more frequent look of the enzyme levels will provide new data for exactly where and how the disease is making its presence know. Bottom line....more data to make better judgement calls on where I am in the disease process should prove to be helpful. Soon we will have new numbers to throw into the mix and open for interpretation. Regards, Sharon Zeis wrote: Have they checked your viral load? Sharon M B wrote: Hi Folks... Guest guest
My lab bill from BCBS was $350, I would appreciate any codes to help get it covered. The only thing I was low on was Vit. A which is a fat soluble vit so I am taking a supplement daily. Be sure to follow the directions about not taking it with food in your stomach, one hour before, at least two hours after food. Especially avoid calcium carbonate, a common filler in other medications. Chuck
Guest guest
I was dx 10-03 and I have never had all of these tests. The only ones I've ever had is TSH and Free T4. Have most of you had these kinds of test? Bev margclark2000 <margclark2000@...> wrote: Hi, I have been reading posts and gathering information as I try to educate myself. I am on one grain of armour and here are my labs: TSH - 2.087 range 0.350-5.500 uIU/mL T4 - 5.04 range 4.5-12.0 ug/dL T3 Uptake - 27 range 24-39 % Free Thyroxine Index - 1.5 range 1.2-4.9 In February everything was the same except for the TSH: it was 4.425 and I was on a generic for armour, nature throid. He changed me to armour because he didn't know much about nature throid (ins. co. did the change) and didn't like the TSH figure. I feel pretty good except for dry skin, occasional constipation and recurring eye stys. How does this look to you guys? Any input would be appreciated! Guest guest
your dose is too low. You cannot go by TSH, just go by symptoms. Increase at least to 90mg. Naturethroid is just the same as Armour. Doctor sounds goofy. Gracia > Hi, I have been reading posts and gathering information as I try to educate myself. Guest guest
I agree that a lot of things that could go wrong. What are some that you are taking about? That can be due to conversion issues or tied up T4 not available for conversion. Another would be a tumor in the pituitary, which can cause the TSH to be elevated even when the thyroid hormones are at normal levels. Then there are the adrenal glands which can screw up several aspects of thyroid production and conversion. All of these need tests beyond the simple TSH. Guest guest
, High Potassium levels are not good and doctors need to find out why they are high. Are you taking a potassium supplement? and have they done kidney function blood work? The doctors need to know why you have high calcium levels also. marylou
Guest guest
The Metagenix DNA stool test is a new one. The lab has a good reputation. Parasites & yeast overgrowth often go together. They can both cause constipation. You will have to do some sort of parasite cleanse to get rid of the parasites then the yeast will be easier to deal with if still a problem. The Hulda parasite cleanse is reputed to be good although there any number of parasite cleanses. You will find a lot of info on curezone about it or look here http://www.drhuldaclark.org/therapy_parasite.asp Some people find Oxypowder good for constipation. http://www.oxypowder.com/ The same company do a parasite product as well http://www.ghchealth.com/paratrex.php Others prefer the similar osygen products Homozon or Colosan. Good luck with your quest. Sandy lab work I did a DNA stool test through metagetrix and it came back showing yeast and parasites unknown in humans. Has anyone ever had the same results, if so how did you treat it? Thanks Deb
Guest guest
Has anyone had difficulty getting their Dr. to sign off on the lab slips from Great Plains labs regarding the IgG food allergy panel? What have you done to get the labs accomplished? I'm not asking for myself. However, I did this so long ago, and now have several wonderful Dr.'s to call upon for testing, that I'm not sure what to advise friends, acquaintances, and relatives who tell me their Dr.'s are giving them all the standard answers as to why the tests aren't necessary. There have been several, who, having seen my son improve, have changed Dr.'s, insurance plans and just plain badgered their Dr.'s until they sign off on the tests, but I'm wondering if you all have found a way to get this from an existing Dr. without ruining the Dr./patient relationship. Thanks.
Guest guest
Mainstream? *snort* I doubt it. They don't even believe there is such a thing as iodine deficiency much less test for it. Steph Lab Work Has anyone had luck getting mainstream doctors to order iodine and bromide level testing (so that it could be covered by insurance)?
