Can someone please tell me where you buy the Biotin? I went to Walmart and

they did not have it with all of their other vitamins and supplements.

Thanks-Kristi

No -- don't know the details -- wish I did, but I have

read this multiple times. It works to inhibit the

change from yeast to fungal form. That is HUGE, since

the fungal form is more tough -- able to live without

oxygen and forms a type of CARPETING effect that DIGS

IN and makes itself right at home.

I think of the yeast vs. fungal in that yeast is

washable, while the fungal form has ROOTS!

Since I have had a terrible case of endocrine attack

from what I believe to be the candida, I can USE the

biotin for my poor head of thin stranned and thin hair

anyway! :) What a good thing to get MULTIPLE

benefits from the biotin!

By the way, I am DETERMINED to have a full THICK head

of hair again WITHOUT the help of the HAIR CLUB FOR

MEN! :) Plus, those cold feet are BOUND to warm up

eventually! These are all signs of thyroid problems

that I believe are DIRECTLY RELATED TO CANDIDA -- even

though the thyroid bloodwork doesn't show a problem.

God bless the Killing of Candida and YOU!!

Carolyn :)

P.S. Check out the info on grape seeds -- just looked

it up and it is WAY COOL!

Ter,

I have read several medical studies confirming that daily dosages of

Biotin (usually 500) prevents the yeast from converting into the

mycelial form.

Amy,

We have read the same. Have tried added Biotin to stop excess hair loss in

small sample of patients post bypass. Does not seem to make any difference.

Small number of patients, no contols, hard to assess effect, etc.

biotin

I take 2500 mg once a day because your body does not absorb all of it.

I believe 300 mcg is the recommended dosage in my favorite book:

'Prescription for Nutritional Healing'. I guess you could up the dosage

because of poor absorption, but 1000 mcg three times a day is way too much

I would be very interested in the results of this post and experiences

of others as well.

Bartholomay wrote:

I have asked our surgeon to consider giving an additional

supplement of Biotin (300 mcg) as our standard vitamin/mineral

Does anyone have any articles of support for doing this or can

site any references?  To me, it seems common sense to provide RDA

levels since that is what we strive for in the remainder of

vitamin/mineral supplements.   Has anyone noticed a difference in hair

loss with providing adequate biotin vs. inadequate biotin?

Hi all,

Try ginger snaps, ginger ale, teas or ginger capsules. I have terrible GERD

and nausea. This works better for me than any other type of treatment, even

the Rx remedies.

Sherry- I just get nauseous at all different times and just eat a little

something and it goes away. It's probably helped me maintain my weight, too.

Before the nausea, I just

didn't eat too often. I wouldn't rate mine as extreme, though.

My son needed boatloads of biotin for a few months, but commonly 1-5mg

is given.

I have never heard of that happening with Biotin...

However, I do know that Biotin is intricately related with fatty acid

balance so by adding it there's a chance you cleared some kind of blockade

in fatty acid synthesis. There is an interesting article about biotin and

fatty acids here: http://jn.nutrition.org/cgi/reprint/118/3/342.pdf that

mentions a " characteristic rash " found in biotin deficiency that is " is

quite similar to that seen in deficiency of essential fatty acid (EFA) " .

They describe it as a " scaly, erythematous dermatitis distributed around the

body orifaces. " Could this be what you are seeing?

Are you giving her EFAs?

one more thing, she has a yeast rash on her feet, so the doctor started her on a

topical nystatin. Just thought I would include that into the equation.

Well, she has broken out in a rash, (almost like a small heat rash) over parts

of stomach and crotch area. Does anyone have experience with this happening once

biotin was added. We also have her on Culturelle, no fenol, afp peptizide.

Thank you for any feedback,

10 mg seems high to start with. I think Dana said 1 to 5 mg is what most need

and I think she started her son on 400 mcg's but I could be remembering wrong.

Maybe try to start smaller dosages or spread out in the day?

[ ] Biotin

I have been reading allot about the positive effects of biotin on the

gut and yeast etc. so I decided to try some on my son. He was already

on a good probiotic and had just finished some Caprylic acid a couple

of days earlier for yeast. He didn't seem to really have a yeast flare

up when I started the biotin, but I thought as a follow up I would give

some a try. I gave a small dose (10mg) and I have to say, my son just

went crazy hyper on it. He is always a very hyper kid, but this was

over and above the ususal. The next day I didn't give it to him and he

was better, but not back to normal. Today he seems back to normal.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could have caused this adverse

reaction to the biotin, I haven't heard any other bad reaction

comments. I wonder if it's a clue to other things he won'e tolerate

well.

Thanks a bunch,

Donna

Do you give both biotin and probiotics? If so, at the same time or different

times?

to work it and see what dose works for your child.
