Guest guest
You can still do a traditional oatmeal bath with gluten free oats (yes there are gf oats out there!) http://www.glutenfreeoats.com/default.aspx I buy GF oats at our health food store, but our Whole foods does not carry them. Sure makes life easier with oats. I know, I know, I didn't believe it either, but they are guaranteed gf and tested all the time. Oats, bu nature, are gf, but processed in plants that contaminate the oats- usually wheat.Good luck. Guest guest
from a great book " Raising a Vaccine Free Child " by Lydall Homeopathic: Rhus Tox tincture or ointment Topically: Gentian Violet (I disagree with Lydall's additional recommendation of Calamine lotion...my daughter's ONLY scarring was the two spots I used that damn stuff. I believe it suppresses the histamine process and/or the toxins removal via the sores...gentian violet probably would not.) Afterwards: Vit. E oil, lanolin, Cocoa Butter (my recommendation) to help skin growth and minimize scarring. Paracetamol (Tylenol) she cites a study which says it: made itching a bit worse, made illness last 1 day longer on average, and made no difference to vomiting, insomnia, headaches, abdominal pain or fussiness. I would just add that I'm no expert, but IMO Vit. C high doses (sodium ascorbate pharmaceutical grade) is never a bad idea when trying to clear a virus. Guest guest
Thanks! I am always surprised we don't get more mention of gentian violet here. I will try to get my hands on some. I have never used Benadryl with my kid and will not use Tylenol any more. He is on good C, and according to my husband (I am travelling for work), Lysine as of tonight. Guest guest
of course i forgot: warm baths with oatmeal, or baking soda (both?) really soothe the itching. If you're into homeopathic, I just found an email from Sherri Nakken with specific remedies for a variety of illness types (it's long) but won't post it here unless someone is interested... Guest guest
Hi Anne :-) I'd be sure to give extra CLO for the vitamin A. Like with measles, the body requires lots of A to deal well with the chicken pox. Anita > > Thanks! I am always surprised we don't get more mention of gentian > violet here. Guest guest
Thank Anita, I will do that. Whatever he has I now have. It is about 18 bumps so far across my whole abdomen, moving to my back. Getting itchier by the minute, I might add. > > > > Thanks! Guest guest
There are quite a few reports saying gentian violet has mercury in it. May be worth checking out to be sure before using it. > > > > > Thanks! I am always surprised we don't get more mention of gentian > > violet here. I will try to get my hands on some. Guest guest
Really? How odd! Thanks for the warning. I haven't gotten any yet, so am safe on that front. > > > > > > Thanks! Guest guest
Thanks Dana. I started him on Lysine last night. We still aren't sure if it is chicken pox, but apart from the yeast, the Lysine shouldn't hurt.
